Chris Breault: Hello again, I am back from my second straight Pearl Jam show. Yet again, a fantastic show. After all of these years, the band seems to get stronger as years go on. We got our seats just before 7:30 for the off chance that EV comes out before the opening band. Well, I guess it wouldn't be considered an "off chance" these days, more of a good chance. He came out and played I am a Patriot. Very cool to hear that again, I really enjoy that song. After he played that, Tim Robbin's band Gob Roberts came out. There set was similar to the one the night before. The only difference that I could notice was they covered Bob Dylan's Masters of War just like Pearl Jam did the previous night. They played their 20 min set & then Death Cab for Cutie came out. This band is starting to grow on me. I will have to look into getting there cd. After a 35 minute intermission, Pearl Jam hit the stage at 9:40. They came out with the same energy they had when they left the stage the night before. All of the songs starting out were played with an extreme intensity. Go, Animal, Evolution, Save You...everything was pumping on all cylinders. There was huge energy in the room. The band was feeding off of the energy of the audience & vice versa. I think the biggest surprise in the opening set for me was Alone. I certainly wasn't expecting that one tonight. It was a very energetic 1st set that lasted just under an hour. They came out a few minutes later with an acoustic set. They played Lukin acoustically, which for some reason makes me chuckle just thinking about playing a song like that in that manner. It's great! Hands down the song of the night was the acoustic version of Black. Has it been played like this since the MTV Unplugged 10+ yrs ago? I don't think so. It was amazing. The 2nd encore was filled with covers. There was a great version of The Seeker by The Who. Another song I have never heard of, I had to consult the set list for this one, was Lion's Share by Germs. The last song of that set was The New World in which Tim Robbins came out to sing with them. Very cool. They came out for a 3rd and final encore. They played I've Got a Feeling by The Beatles. I don't think this hasn't been played in quite sometime as well. They ended the night with the house lights on by playing Rockin' in the Free World. Overall, Pearl Jam was on the stage for just over 2 hours. Not quite as long as the night before, but both shows were comparable. Tough to determine which was better. I think night 2 was slightly better; one reason for me is because they played Alone & I've Got a Feeling. Black, The Seeker, Man of the Hour & Daughter were all memorable. I am very glad I was able to make it to both nights in Boston. I can't wait to go to my 3rd show in 4 nights, in Reading, PA on Friday. I heard that this is a much smaller venue, so we shall see how they perform in this intimate setting...my guess is they blow the roof off. See you there!
