Happy New Year!!!!

Last year was a really busy one and we'd like to thank each and every one of you for your support. Thanks for spreading the Jam! We are positive that in 1996 many wonderful things will be happening for Pearl Jam and their loyal fans.

The Long And Winding Road...

It turned out to be a tough year for PJ on the road but in the end they delivered some of the finest shows ever. They left their fans wanting more and the east coasters anxiously awaiting their turn. The current show possibilities are that Pearl Jam could hit the road again in the spring or summer for the east coast or something international. Nothing is definite yet but the loud buzz sounds promising.

Tones And Rhythms...

  • Pearl Jam will be contributing a song for a record tentatively titled "MOM" whose proceeds will benefit the Surfrider Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to the protection and enhancement of the world's waves and beaches through conservation, activism, research and education. Other featured artists are: Beastie Boys, Porno For Pyros, Brian Setzer Orchestra, Everclear, Sublime, Reverend Horton Heat, and Sprung Monkey, among others. A spring release is expected and you can visit their web site at: http://www.sdsc.edu/SDSC/Partners/Surfrider/main.html

  • Home Alive - Due out Feb. 20th! This double album compilation includes songs by groups such as Soundgarden, Nirvana, Supersuckers, The Presidents of the USA, Ann & Nancy Wilson and Green Apple Quick Step. There are also spoken word pieces from Bobby Miller, The Body Has a Head, Lydia Lunch and others. Pearl Jam performs a song previously recorded by the High Numbers (The Who) called Leaving Here. For more info about the Home Alive organization and how you can help to raise awareness regarding self-defense, contact them at Home Alive, 1202 E. Pike St., #1127, Seattle, WA 98122. (206) 233-8671. This project is dedicated to the late Mia Zapata of The Gits. We want you to Get Home, and be Home Alive.

  • Pearl Jam's fourth album is still incubating. We're told the birth will take place in early summer and we're sorry we don't know the baby's name yet.

And Now For A Few Merkin Moments...

We received a number of questions about the MerkinBall single. It was not part of the fan club singles. It was recorded at the same time as Neil Young's 'Mirror Ball'. Mike and Stone were not there on the day I Got Id and Long Road were recorded...it was a spontaneous thing. Yes, MerkinBall is also available on vinyl.

Potpourri Q&A...

Q: Here I am wondering, me and many of us in Portugal, will PJ make a show or two!!! in Portugal..
A: Perhaps.

Q: Why didn't Pearl Jam play Bumbershoot?
A: We were in Europe on our way back and the only date available to us was the 1st and 2nd night and we wanted the 3rd and 4th - sorry, schedule conflicts.

Q: Who suggested the covering of "I Got You" by Split Enz that Pearl Jam did in Melbourne?
A: Eddie.

Q: Who painted the big block letters "PEARL JAM" behind the band's hands on the cover of TEN?
A: Jeff.

Q: Who are "The Frogs" that played a version of Rearviewmirror on the Immortality single?
A: Jimmy Frog and Dennis Frog (they have a real last name, but it's a closely guarded secret!) are brothers from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The Frogs had a series of gigs opening for Pearl Jam in March of 1994 as well as the Milwaukee dates on the 1995 Summer Tour.

Rumors, Rumors, Rumors...

PEARL Rumor: Radio stations all over announced that PJ was going to attend an online listening party on America Online. Was PJ scheduled to be there?
JAM Fact: No.

PEARL Rumor: The show that Pearl Jam/Neil Young played in Dublin last summer is going to be put out on CD by Epic. Is that true?
JAM Fact: No.

PEARL Rumor: Pearl Jam's frontman can be found playing drums for his wife's band Hovercraft.
JAM Fact: No, they have a drummer.

Letterman Show...

Q-In a newsletter from late '93, there is a picture of Beth and Ed on the Letterman show. Is there any way you can let me know approximately what date this was so I can go into our archives and dig it up? Dave says he'll even allot time for 2 songs instead of one, any chance the guys will do the show?
A-Eddie and Beth sat on the set when the studio was empty (when we were on Sat night live) Yes, they may do Letterman.

Q-Does Pearl Jam have any plans to do Letterman? I know he has asked them several times.
A-We want to.
