Deep Throat

The Truth Is Out There

Log Entry: October 20, 1997: As the red-hot information was handed over, we scanned the dimly lit room for the telltale blinks of prying eyes. Detecting none that were human, we thanked Deep Throat and hurried off to examine the contents and spread the word, but for security reasons, we had to burn the files, now referred to only in whispers as...The Y-Files. We do remember what the files contained however...

Pearl Jam's fifth album, with a working title of "Yield", is still currently scheduled for release on Feb. 3rd, 1998. The first single, "Given to Fly," is planned for release at the end of December.

Upcoming live shows will have Pearl Jam opening for the Rolling Stones in Oakland, California on Nov. 14th, 15th, 18th and the recently added 19th. For ticket information you can call Bass Tickets at 1-800-225-2277. PJ will jam out for approximately an hour and it will not be televised on the Stones' big concert screen. It's a great opportunity to just listen to the music...which is a nice thought.

Pearl Jam's own tour will have them playing first in a more intimate 5,000 seater in Maui on February 20th and 21st before heading for New Zealand and Australia. First chance tickets for current fan club members for the Feb. 20th show at the Alexander & Baldwin Amphitheater at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center, located in Maui Central Park are now available. Ticketing info for the general public will be announced later.

In other tour news, we're told now that PJ's U.S. tour could begin SOONER than the rumored June '98! ...more on that great news later... :)

~Q&A~Q&A~Q&A~Q&A~

Q: Except for the "Ten" sessions, no other album has had outtakes on single b-sides (Hard To Imagine, etc.). With all the great additional songs you guys have stored up, could there be a Pearl Jam "odds and sods" collection in the future?
A: Sure.

Q: Why is it that so much more Pearl Jam material (singles, extra album tracks, etc.) is released in foreign countries? (other than U.S.)
A: Not much control.

Q: Is that a picture of Dennis Rodman's eye on the cover of No Code?
A: Yes.

Q: I heard that Pearl Jam actually created a "GO" Video! But it was only released in Europe, like the "OCEANS" Video. Is this true?
A: No.

Q: I have a quick question, while listening to State of Love and Trust, who does the background vocals on it?
A: Stone & Jeff.

Technically Speaking

Q: What can you tell us about Jeff Ament's gear?
A: Working on a new touring set up consisting of, Ampeg SVTS, Marshall 100 watt Heads, SWR 6 x 10 bottoms + all sorts of rack stuff that has not been finalized yet.

Q: In the last Rumor Pit I saw that someone asked what kind of strings Stone uses. In a magazine interview with Mike c.94 or 95, he said that he and Stone both use GHS boomer 11's. If it's true, I was wondering if you'd post it in the next Rumor Pit so more people could know.
A: Yes, it's true.
