Whispers of Change are Blowin' in the Wind...
Coming in on the breeze is word that Pearl Jam are busy working on the new album and they still hope to release it this year. No change there. After that, they'll be making solid plans to go out on the road. That's where the changes begin. They still have plans to tour Europe and South America but now it's looking like the European tour may not be until next spring. There's a lot to be done between now and then so anything could happen - we'll be waiting patiently to report more definite tour plans.
We recently announced another change in plans, this one for a great cause, that being the CD release of "Last Kiss/Soldier of Love," which was formerly only available to fan club members on vinyl as the 1998 holiday fan club single. In case you missed that Rumor Pit announcement, the "Last Kiss" single will be released around the world on CD with 100% of the proceeds going to CARE in support of their efforts to provide food, shelter and other basic needs to refugees of Kosovo. We couldn't be more proud to be Pearl Jam fans. The CD will officially be shipped to radio on Monday, May 3rd and will be in stores in 3-4 weeks. Also, Sony Music is releasing a compilation album which will include "Last Kiss." They'll be making an announcement about that and their contribution to CARE very soon. (www.care.org)
You may already know that Ed is scheduled to play the Tibetan Freedom Concert solo on June 13th in E. Troy, Wisconsin, but we wouldn't be surprised if other PJ guy(s) appeared with him to support the cause...
Since April 23rd, the soft cover version of Place/Date, the Pearl Jam photobook, has been delivered to many bookstores around the country. Your local store should receive their shipment by May 18th. If you're interested in the hard cover version, you can still get it when you join the Ten Club. Ohhh, I'm Spinning...
Is your head spinning from all the rumors? Here's a bit of info to keep things straight.
- the new Pearl Jam album isn't completed and there's no working title yet.
- the August 30th release date going around is a bit of wishful thinking.
- the rumors about Pearl Jam touring the U.S. and/or Canada this summer are not true. They're thinking that when they do tour the U.S. and Canada again, it will more likely be next year some time so, yes, it's safe to plan your 1999 non-Pearl Jam summer vacation for the mountains or the beach, but don't forget to go fishing... Three Fishing that is.
Throw Out Your Line and Catch Three Fish...
Summer heats up with Three Fish, Jeff's side band with Robbi Robb and Richard Stuverud. They will release their second album, The Quiet Table, on June 1, 1999. Then it's time to hit the road! If you missed their last tour, you'll be able to catch them this time around at the following locations. Dates are still pending so check the Three Fish page for updated info.

PEARL Rumors: Sean Penn has Ed in mind for a role in a movie. Is it possible that Ed will do it?

Q: Will there be Rockfords' tour dates? appearances of any kind?
A: Hope so.
Q: Will any member of Pearl Jam be a guest on the upcoming Chris Cornell solo album?

Q: Is there any chance of Pearl Jam doing a New Year's show anywhere?
A: No.
Q: Do the European tour plans include playing in Scandinavia this time?

Q: Who produced "Merkinball"? I know that Brett Eliason recorded and mixed it.

Q: I have a question for PJ re: its involvement w/the plight of Tibetans: why was Place/Date printed in China? I assume it was printed in Hong Kong like many art books, but it's still engaging in commerce with an oppressor. I was a little disappointed when I got to the credits end-page. I don't mean to rail -- I'm just surprised. Peace.
A: We fucked up. It was in Hong Kong.
Q: Will the new album be leaked again this time? The people with CD-R burners can start selling it online before PJ does then.
A: Hope not...
Q: What does Pearl Jam think about fans dubbing their live show music onto CD-R's instead of tapes and either selling them or trading them? Do they think that's bootlegging?
A: Yes.
Q: Does Pearl Jam have a name for their private jet? (ex: Air Force One) What is the name?
A: We don't own a jet. They have this new-fangled thing, it's called renting.
Q: Will Pearl Jam be contributing a song to the new Austin Powers movie soundtrack?
