On Sale Saturday, September 18 at 10 A.M EDT Only Through Ticketmaster.com or by phone.

WASHINGTON DC- As part of an effort to inspire people to vote for change this November, the coalition of artists who are participating in this Fall's 36 city, 12 state Vote For Change tour will come together for a grand finale performance in Washington DC on October 11 at the MCI Center. This, as with all Vote For Change shows, is presented by MoveOn PAC to benefit America Coming Together (ACT).

Tickets for this show will go on sale Saturday, September 18th at 10 a.m. EDT at Ticketmaster.com or by phone at 202-432-SEAT - no outlets. For more information about Vote for Change, including ticket information and updates, go to www.moveonpac.org or www.act04.com.

The finale show will bring 13 of the Vote For Change artists together for a 4 hour performance. Although these artists vary in genre, their message is the same; they want to inspire people to vote for change.

"We all wanted to come back together for a finale show after we had finished our separate tour dates," said Stone Gossard of Pearl Jam. "We thought our nation¹s capitol seemed like the most ideal place to do that."

"The power of music is coming to Washington to liven the political debate about the need to change the direction of our country. This will be the grand finale to inspire and reinvigorate the democratic political world before we head into the final weeks of the campaign," said Ellen Malcolm, President of ACT.

"This finale concert will clearly be a historic event, and we're honored and grateful to be presenting it with so many world-renowned artists," said Eli Pariser, Executive Director of MoveOn PAC. "After four years of deficits, layoffs, and war, this call for new leadership will signal to millions of Americans that on November 2nd, they need to get out and vote for change."

Vote For Change background
Conceived by a loose coalition of musicians four months ago, Vote for Change is a multi-city, multi-artist tour that will include approximately 34 shows in 36 cities in 12 states over the course of 11 days. See full Vote for Change schedule.

"The upcoming election provides everyone an opportunity to change the direction our country is headed and to elect a government that is just, rational and respectful of the views and rights of the people it serves. This coalition of artists wants to be a part of that change," said Stone Gossard of Pearl Jam.

From October 1 through October 8, twenty-one artists will appear on separate bills, on the same night, in select cities in nine battleground states. On October 11, many of these artists will converge on our nation's capital and share the stage for a special grand finale concert to conclude the tour.

The Vote for Change tour came about as part of an informal conversation among a handful of artists on how they could make a difference in this year's elections and beyond. What resulted was a first-of-its-kind tour routed through states where the elections are expected to be the closest. All Vote for Change artists are donating their time and talent in support of the tour.

September 9, 2004 - No Vote Left Behind Festival Final Line-Up Announced

Seattle Festival to Raise Money, Awareness For Regime Change

No Vote Left Behind is proud to announce the line up for its festival/fundraiser, which will take place in most major Seattle venues September 23-26. Based on the premise that music has the power to change things, NVLB has assembled a diverse cross section of the creative community united in the desire for regime change and committed to raising a collective voice toward a more progressive agenda.

Artists participating in the festival include Pearl Jam, Queensryche, David Cross, Mudhoney, John Doe, Grant-Lee Phillips, Pansy Division, the scAVENGERS, Jon Brion, Matthew Caws (Nada Surf), John Roderick (The Long Winters), Jon Auer (the Posies), Alan Sparhawk (Low), John Vanderslice, Kinski, El Vez, Hedwig, the Turn-Ons, the Delays, the Divine Comedy and Robbers on High Street, with more confirmations expected shortly.

"It's hard to believe that it was just a few short months ago that I came back from an exasperating Christmas visit with family and hatched the idea that was to become No Vote Left Behind," says co-founder Natasha George. "NVLB has grown in ways that I could have never imagined. Thanks to everyone who helped us make this happen!"

"This festival is a tribute to the incredible music scene here in Seattle," says co-booker Barbara Mitchell. "There's an amazing amount of talent, but more than that there's a deep sense of community and a willingness to work toward a common goal in this case, making a statement that it's time for regime change. We couldn't have done this without the local club booking agents, bands who talked to their friends, and everyone else who was willing to help us put together this festival we were naïve enough to think we could pull off. Astonishingly, it worked!"

Tickets will go on sale Friday, Sept 10 at 10am PT exclusively through Ticketswest and Ticketweb, depending on the venue.

Due to the federal regulations, you must be at least 18 years of age and a registered U.S. citizen to purchase tickets to these shows. No exceptions. If you elect to purchase tickets to No Vote Left Behind events, you are making a financial contribution to No Vote Left Behind, which is a political action committee. Donations to NVLB are not tax-deductible.

    About No Vote Left Behind
No Vote Left Behind ("NVLB") is a Seattle-based political action committee with roots in Seattle's vibrant music community. We are a "hard money" organization that reports to the Federal Election Commission. Regime change is our mission. We believe that regular people can no longer wait for professional activists and policy wonks to clean up the Bush administration's mess. We started NVLB to give regular people a place to get engaged.

No Vote Left Behind Will Fund

  • A fundraising music festival in Seattle the weekend of September 23-26, 2004
  • Targeted donations to the Democratic National Committee to secure a Kerry-Edwards victory in November
  • Progressive candidates in contested congressional races in order to win back the legislative branch
  • Progressive, like-minded PACs and causes such as voter registration, election monitoring, and verified voting drives

    How We Are Different

With nearly $650 million in yearly revenues and 8,700 local jobs, the Seattle music industry is a cultural and economic force. NVLB is working to transform this vibrant community into a national political funding source. As NVLB's Chris Olson explains, "There are a lot of other great organizations that are using music to increase voter turn-out and register voters. We want to use music more directly as a fundraising tool. We really want to be a partisan voice in the music community working for regime change. The reason we organized as a hard-money PAC is because it allows us to have that voice, and to say, 'Our community is against Bush.'"

While ousting the Bush administration is the driving mission behind all NVLB activity, NVLB funds will also go to fund progressive candidates' campaigns for the House and Senate in hotly-contested races, because there is more to regime change than the presidential election.

August 4, 2004 - Pearl Jam on the Vote for Change tour!

Pearl Jam is excited to announce the Vote for Change concert tour. Vote for Change is a loose coalition of musicians brought together by a single idea—the need to make a change in the direction of our country. We share a belief that this is the most important election of our lifetime. We are fighting for a government that is open, rational, just and progressive.

"The upcoming election provides everyone an opportunity to change the direction our country is headed and to elect a government that is just, rational and respectful of the views and rights of the people it serves. This coalition of artists wants to be a part of that change." said Stone Gossard of Pearl Jam.

Artists participating in Vote for Change have merged their energies and talents to focus on states that are expected to have the closest races in the elections this fall. This unprecedented effort will include approximately 34 shows in 28 cities in 9 battleground states over the course of a week.

These concerts will feature Babyface, Jackson Browne, Bright Eyes, Dave Matthews Band, Death Cab for Cutie, the Dixie Chicks, John Fogerty, Ben Harper, Jurassic 5, Keb' Mo', John Mellencamp, My Morning Jacket, Pearl Jam, Bonnie Raitt, R.E.M., James Taylor, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band and more. These and other artists will appear on separate bills on the same night in selected cities around several battleground states.

Vote for Change artists hope to accomplish a single goal through the tour: to get people to the polls on November 2nd to vote for a change.

The Vote for Change tour will be presented by MoveOn PAC, with all concert proceeds benefiting the work of America Coming Together (ACT).

    TICKETS:

Pearl Jam and Death Cab for Cutie will be performing the following Vote for Change shows:

"This is the fourth presidential election which Pearl Jam has engaged in as a band, and we feel it's the most important one of our lifetime. We believe in the power of the first amendment, and have always exercised our right to free speech in every aspect of our lives and music. This year there is no more powerful way for all Americans to exercise that right than by voting. Given the extreme political climate of a country at war, we are proud to stand among the many artists involved in this tour and to encourage Americans not only to vote for a president this November 2nd, but to vote for the change they wish to see in the world." - Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam

Be sure to register to vote early and make your Vote for Change!

July 7, 2004 - "Down" featured in Zinn documentary

Pearl Jam's musical contribution to the recently released documentary, "Howard Zinn: You Can't Be Neutral on a Moving Train" is "Down" from the recent double cd, "Lost Dogs." Produced and directed by Deb Ellis and Denis Mueller, this feature documents the life and times of the historian, activist and author of the best selling classic A People’s History of the United States. Featuring rare archival materials, interviews with Howard Zinn as well as colleagues and friends including Noam Chomsky, Marian Wright Edelman, Daniel Ellsberg, Tom Hayden and Alice Walker, You Can't Be Neutral captures the essence of this activist and thinker who has been a catalyst for progressive change for more than 60 years.

    What critics are saying:
"If Fahrenheit 9/11 unveils the problem, then You Can't Be Neutral on a Moving Train offers the hope that there indeed are solutions."
    - Matt Ashare, The Boston Phoenix

"...he so passionately wants people to use their conviction to change the world that you might feel bad just sitting there watching a movie about it."
    - Wesley Morris, Globe Staff
