Opening Act Announced for Pearl Jam's Seattle Benefit Shows on July 21 and 22
June 2, 1998: Seattle -- Pearl Jam announced today that The Wallflowers will open for them at their Memorial
Stadium concerts in Seattle on Tuesday, July 21 and Wednesday, July 22. Other special guests to be
announced. Shows start at 6 p.m.
Pearl Jam's July 21 show is sold out, but some tickets are still available for the July 22 show and can
be purchased at all Ticketmaster locations or by phone at 206-628-0888 in Seattle; 509-453-7139 in Yakima;
509-735-0500 for the Tri-Cities area; or 604-280-4444 in Vancouver, Ca. Tickets are $30 plus applicable service charges.
In tradition with past hometown concerts, Pearl Jam will donate the majority of funds raised from the
concert to charity. The selected charities are representative of causes the band has long supported,
including public school programs, youth involvement and recreation, literacy, caring for people with
AIDS, and Native American issues. Nine of the ten concert beneficiaries are Seattle-based
organizations, including the John Stanford Book Fund which will receive a $78,000 donation from the
band.

- Seattle Public Schools, John Stanford Book Fund
- Bailey-Boushay House
- Chicken Soup Brigade
- National Association for American Indian Children and Elders
- Red Feather Development Group (building housing for Native American elders)
- Seattle Athletic Facilities and Education (SAFE)
- Seattle Center Peace Academy
- Seattle Center Skateboard Park
- The Northwest School (four on-going scholarships for four low-income students selected form the
- Seattle Center Arts Academy)
- The Spruce Street School
Support Bands Set For Pearl Jam Tour Beginning June 20
May 22, 1998: Seattle -- Pearl Jam announced today the opening acts for their upcoming 1998 U.S. tour, which kicks off on June 20th in Missoula, Montana and ends September 18th in Washington, DC.
The support acts include Goodness, Spacehog, Iggy Pop, X, Cheap Trick, Mudhoney, Frank Black, and the Murder City Devils.
