New Updates From the Ten Club

June 5, 2002 Newsletter 19: We know it's been a long time since the last newsletter, and we have no good excuses, but the next edition is coming soon and we're very excited about it. We hope that you are, too. So let's get those mailing addresses updated, if you haven't already. Remember, you can do that right at the tenclub.net Consume page by logging in and updating your records. If you don't know your username and password, write us at info@tenclub.net, and we'll get it for you. You can also just email your changes in to that email address and we'll take care of it. As always, your patience is greatly appreciated. Things are starting to get busy. It's been a while, but there is definitely some electricity in the air...

December 17, 2001 Christmas Single 2001: Thanks to some delays in getting clearances on the artwork for the 2001 holiday single, it will be late. We're sure that it won't be there by Christmas, but it should follow shortly after. Of course, that is assuming that all goes well with the artwork. Keep your fingers crossed. It will be worth the wait. It is excellent.

Thank you,
Ten Club

October 25, 2001 Christmas Single: After that whirlwind weekend, we're catching our breath and starting to work on the 2001 Christmas single. As usual, we need to set a cutoff date for renewals or new memberships to receive this year's gift. Because we've rasised the rates (from $10/12 to $15/20), and because we're getting the word out a little late, we're extending the cutoff until November 15. This doesn't mean that the single will be going out late. In fact, we're hoping to be a little ahead of the game. (wishful thinking)

Thank you,
Ten Club

Tuesday, September 25, 2001 Newsletter 18 Mailed: Newsletter 18 has gone out. Some of you have received it, others will not receive it for awhile. Please be patient. It's not time to panic yet, especially if you don't live in the U.S. Those who have already received it no doubt have noticed that we are raising our membership dues for the first time in over 5 years. Beginning October 1, all memberships will be $15 for U.S. members (WA state residents $16.29) and $20(usd) for international members. We hope to continue our good service and expand our offers to you, while at the same time becoming more independent of the traditional record business.

Thanks for helping.
Ten Club

November 29, 2000 Happy Holidays: Yes, it's that time of year again, when everyone is hustling and bustling around to get things ready for the upcoming holidays. We are working here to get things prepared as well, and we would like to take some time to update everyone on the things going on here at Ten Club...which undoubtedly will have some sort of effect on each and every one of you.

2000 Single - We undoubtedly refer to it as the CHRISTMAS SINGLE for a very good reason. The single is in the making as you read this, and we are hoping, (keep your fingers crossed) to have it to Ten Club members by Christmas.

Newsletter 17 - We are attempting to get Newsletter 17 sent out about the same time as the Christmas Single.

CONSUME - December 13 is the deadline for U.S. customers to place merchandise orders and have them arrive at their doorsteps by Christmas *. For those of you outside the United States, the deadline to order and receive your goods by Christmas is the end of this week (December 1). *

* Whether International or U.S., please remember this is not an absolute guarantee. We are doing our best to get everything to you on time.

BOOTLEGS - The first leg of the North American Tour should be released shortly after the first of the year. A specific date has not been set.
***Remember, to get the special bootleg price, you must be a Ten Club member.

That's about it for our Holiday update. If you have questions, please email info@tenclub.net.

Again, Happy Holidays from the Ten Club!

September 1, 2000 Portland re-schedule:
If you originally chose Portland for your Ten Club tickets, and changed to a different show, you can change back to Portland if you like. Of course, you don't have to. We've been able to contact many of you, but if you haven't heard from us, drop us a line at info@tenclub.net.

August 3, 2000

To all fan club members,

Despite what you may hear, we do prioritize the tickets. I start with the first seat in the orchestra pit and go through them as they are numbered. They are broken into 4-6 sections depending on how many fan club tickets there are. Today (Virginia Beach) the tickets were separated into four blocks:

Orchestra pit prime seating reserved for membership numbers: 48196-133855
1st block after Orchestra: membership number: 134312-172265
2nd block 172457-190346
3rd block 190365-199657

Please note the membership numbers will vary each show as each member can only purchase two tickets.

Each block of tickets is given out in order, i.e., ORCH seat 1, Orch seat 2 etc....So if your the first person in your block to pick up your tickets, you get the first seat reserved in that section.

Now I will not be labeling envelopes, sorry. There are too many and I have a few other jobs as well as just taking care of your tickets. Besides, it's a waste of paper that won't be recycled! It is only first come, first served per blocks, and really all the blocks are killer seats. Our band guests sit BEHIND you so they are killer seats.

You do need to bring your membership number or confirmation letter and a photo ID in order to pick up your tickets. If you don't have either you will have a problem getting into the show.

This is how the tickets will be done for the duration of the tour.

Sincerely,
PJ Ticket gal

July 27, 2000

It's going to be hard to forget the summer of 2000. It's been a summer of sadness and grieving and also a summer of hard work and positive energy. Some days it was really hard to come in and keep going on the U.S. portion of the tour, but we've managed to get a pile of work completed...well, half a pile anyway. We just finished processing the first leg of the tour (through Pittsburgh). So if you haven't gotten confirmation for a show in the first leg of the tour, you might want to get in touch with us. You can email us at info@tenclub.net or tickets@tenclub.net, but please only do so if you requested tickets for shows on the first leg of the tour and you haven't received your confirmation yet. Shirley and I are going to the east coast for the start of the tour and we will be out of the office for the next week, so things are going to slow down, but when we get back, we'll be taking care of your problems and going through the second leg.

Non ticket related things have taken a backseat to the tour as some of you have probably noticed. If you sent in a membership renewal or requested a new membership, there's a good chance that it's waiting to be dealt with. This works in your favor, you know. The longer we take to process your renewal, the further your membership will be extended. I know that doesn't really ease the pain, but rest assured that you won't miss out on anything fan club-wise. Sorry 'bout that. Same goes for merchandise orders that have been received via snail mail. Some of the new items from newsletter #16 are on back order, so any new stuff will still be a couple of weeks away.

Back to the more pressing issue. The tour! Just a week away and we can't wait.

Things to remember about picking up your fan club tickets:

  • Bring your ID - If you are too young to have an ID, bring a copy of your birth certificate, or your report card or library card. We'll figure it out.

  • Bring your confirmation - Bring the whole thing if you can. It will just make things easier. Remember, you can't have someone else pick up your tickets. It just won't happen.

  • Show up early, but not too early - The quality of your tickets is based on your seniority in the Ten Club, not by how early you show up at the ticket window. But don't be too late, because we want to go watch the show, too. Supposedly, they will let us open the window at 3 o'clock on the day of the show. I'll believe it when I see it.

  • Most importantly, have fun - and be safe and nice.

We'll see you out there.
Tim

Just enough time to make a quick update... We are processing your ticket orders now. It is hard, and time consuming. Please bear with us. Your patience is greatly appreciated. We would like to take this opportunity to point out some things that are very important.

Please, please make sure that you have enough money in your checking account to cover that check, if it was indeed a check that you sent. If your check bounces, you will be charged a fee to cover our costs. We have to do this, because we have to pay the promoters for your tickets. Also, if your check doesn't bounce, we can get your confirmation to you sooner, and it's less time we have to take away from tending to your tickets.

If you sent a credit card number, it would make things a lot easier if your card is not declined. Sometimes, a card is just declined and there's nothing you or I can do about it. That will happen, and we'll deal with it. But the less declines we have, the more efficient we can be. Also, and we know this is our fault- if your credit card has expired since you sent it in all those months ago, send us an email at info@tenclub.net to let us know your updated expiration. Make sure you include your name, address and the show you requested.

If your email address has changed and you requested to have your confirmation sent via e-mail, please let us know. If we get e-mail returned to us, we try to re-send it after making sure we have it right, and it takes time, so please be patient. For future reference, (our fault, again) when writing your e-mail address, remember, the number 1 looks a lot like the letter L and the number 0 looks a lot like the letter O. And if other people can't read your chicken scratch, it's likely that I can't either, so have someone who has good penmanship do it. Food for thought.

Bad News From Europe*******

No, it's not about the band, it's about the fans. As you know, we go to great lengths to reserve seats for our European fans. But on this tour, only about half of those fans who reserved tickets actually picked up their tickets, causing us to have to eat those tickets.

We lose money on the European tickets reservations in the first place, and now we are losing even more because you are not holding up your end of the deal. We now have to re-evaluate our policy for the future. In the meantime, if you have tickets reserved for upcoming European dates, and are not going to pick them up, let us know, so we can sell them to someone else. You can e-mail me at tickets@tenclub.net to let me know.

Okay, now back to the tickets. Are you guys excited about this summer? We are!

Thanks!
Tim

May 17, 2000 Update de la Ten Club:
We have received all of the ticket offers and we are going to start processing them soon. We are sorry, but we can't take any more requests. If we receive one from you, we will put it on a waiting list. If you didn't receive a ticket offer, we are sorry. Tickets have been set aside, and in some cases the shows have gone on sale and sold out. So we can't get any more tickets. And this also makes it impossible for us to make changes for you. We did our best to let everyone know that we were going to send out the offer so they could get their addresses changed and their dues paid up. But we still get people sending in their offers saying "Dude, I was lazy and didn't get this in on time." Or people are letting us know that they didn't get their offer. It's too late for that. We could have helped out if you had contacted us earlier, but not now. Sorry. And you guys have to understand this. There is absolutely no way that we, for some reason, decided not to send you a ticket offer. We sent them to everyone that was an up-to-date member. It was nothing personal, if you didn't receive one.

As for the ticket confirmations, here's where we stand. We are going to start processing with Virginia Beach first, and going down the list, ending with Seattle. If your credit card expires or you cancel a check or something bad happens, we'll step back, take a deep breath, give you a call and make it all better. Don't worry, everything will be fine. For the most part, everyone has been really patient and cool about the whole thing. All of you veteran fan club members can attest to the newcomers that the tickets are great and we do come through! Don't look for anything from us regarding confirmation before mid-June.

The obligatory email lecture:
Just kidding. The mail load has decreased a little and people have been pretty good about only sending legit questions. Please take a little time to look around this site and others to see if you can answer your own questions about the tour. The fan club, or Kat and Sea for that matter can't hook you up with backstage passes or photo credentials, etc. So think twice about emailing with obviously impossible requests. Shirley and I are heading over to the first part of the European tour to make sure the fans over there are taken care of, so the email is gonna pile up. We will have someone at home taking care of it, but keeping up with Shirley's frenetic pace would be impossible for a mere mortal. So take it easy on us. We'll be back and we'll be getting ready for America. You are the best fans and we thank you for that. And as always, we owe much gratitude to Kat and Sea for their tireless efforts.

Adios Amigos,
Tim

Ten Club Tickets: We have just finished sending out the confirmation letters and e-mails to the European fans. For those of you in Europe, you should be receiving your confirmations in about a week. As for North American fans, we have just sorted your mail by show. That means we haven’t cashed any checks or charged any credit cards, so don’t worry if your check hasn’t cleared. We also haven’t been able to pick up all of the overnight and registered mail until today, so there is no reason to worry if you haven’t received delivery confirmation yet.

The next thing we are going to do is count the ticket requests. The reason we do this is so we can tell the promoter how many tickets the fan club gets and they can then put the rest of the tickets on sale to the general public starting this weekend. So we still have your requests to count. There are at least 15,000 letters in this office right now, so you can imagine that it will take us a while just to count them. Then we have to process them. That means a lot of data entry and credit card processing and tons of administrative stuff. They will be processed in the order of the show that you are requesting, so Virginia Beach is first and Seattle is last. We don’t have any idea how long this will take, but it’s not going to happen as fast as you would like it to. Rest assured that if you tried to get us your ticket offer in on time, we will take care of you even if it was a little late, or your credit card expired or you bounced the check or pretty much anything (except if your dog ate it). Again, we will take care of you. We are here for you guys and you can count on us, even though it might not always seem that way.

Which leads me to the next item. It is not the fault of the Ten Club or the Rumour Pit, or anyone for that matter, that the venues were not announced until the day of the deadline. Negotiations and preparations were going on up until the last minute to secure the venues and make sure we get a fair deal so we can keep ticket prices down and those merchandise prices down. It is also no one's fault that Austin and Portland didn’t happen. It just couldn’t be worked out. We have to keep in mind that the Ten Club priority ticketing is a privilege, not a right. If things were done the way most bands do them, the tour would be announced this weekend and tickets would go on sale next weekend and no one would even know about Portland and Austin. So, we're really sorry about not having shows in those two cities and we're also really sorry if the venue surprises (i.e., Jones Beach) are too much for you to handle. There are other people around the world who are much less fortunate than us and don't forget the people who'll be sitting in the nosebleed section wishing they were in your seats.

Unfortunately, we are unable to change venues for people unless there is a legitimate request. One more transfer to get to Long Island from New Jersey isn't one of them. However, if you made a request for Austin or Portland, you need to e-mail or snail mail your change. For those of you we don't hear from, we will be contacting you. You can go to any of the other shows on the list and if you want to come to Seattle, we won’t make you pay the extra dough.

So, most importantly, I want to stress to you to please remain as patient as possible. If we can keep the e-mail down to a minimum, that would help. Save up your questions about whether or not we got your request until we get to a point where we can actually tell you. It’s going to be a great year and you’re all going to have awesome seats.

Peace,
Tim

April 27, 2000

Ten Club Tickets: Due to circumstances beyond our control, Pearl Jam was unable to make the previously announced shows in Austin and Portland happen. Fan club members who reserved seats for those shows will be given an opportunity to select seats from any other show. Those requesting Portland tickets, will be able to attend the Seattle show for the same price as the Portland show.

Thanks!

Ten Club Ticket Q&A:

Q: Did you receive my ticket order yet? Or I've checked, and my express mail package hasn't been picked up yet. Please go pick it up.
A: There is no way for us to find your letter among the 10,000 others. And we have a schedule for picking up our mail. Once again, ticket quality is based on membership seniority, not when you get it in. Unfortunately, for those of you who shelled out the $11.75 for overnight mail, it was a waste of money and our time because we have to sign each one. Also, for both the European and North American tours, we will not begin processing any orders until after the respective deadlines, so people in Europe will not be getting any confirmation until after April 15, and people in North America until after the 28th.

Q: I need to know the venue or where my seats are. Or I need to sit next to my friend.
A: Please don't write us with those requests. The venues will be announced soon. It is impossible for you to sit next to your friend unless it just happens to work out that way.

Q: Thank you!
A: We really appreciate that you want to thank us if we have made something happen for you, but if you could wait until after the tour for your thanks and accolades, it would be much appreciated. Too bad we can't ask the same of the ones who are complaining.

Q: I wrote you a couple of days ago...
A: There is a reason why we haven't gotten back to you after a couple of days. We are that far behind! It is really important for us to get the forms out to those who didn't get theirs. That is our priority. We are not ignoring your mail. We are prioritizing. And when we get repeat mailings, it just means more mail to open.

Q: Can I order tickets via e-mail with my credit card?
A: No. Sorry.

Thanks!
Ten Club

Please Follow The Instructions Carefully
The ticket order forms contain all the instructions you'll need to get your ticket order back to us. The HELP email address on your order form will not be active for the North American tour until one week before the tour begins so if you have questions, please send them to info@tenclub.net...and that email address should be used only if you have a legitimate question that hasn't already been answered in the mailer or in the website updates. We tried to answer everything we could in the mailer. We don't know the venues yet, but they'll be posted asap.

PLEASE NOTE: You don't need to send your ticket form request in right away. The quality of your tickets is based on your seniority in the fan club, not how soon we receive your order. Reminder: The ticket form deadline is April 28th and we must receive it BY that date, not postmarked by that date. Ticket orders received after that date will be returned.

Once again, the March 15th deadline to join the Ten Club and receive the ticket offer has passed. We are sorry if you missed it, but along with the regular reminders to keep a membership current, we feel like we gave everyone lots of notice in previous updates. Please don't email us asking for an exception or special treatment. There's nothing we can do for you.

Two Tickets To A Single Show
The reason for our new system is to keep people from getting fan club tickets to more than one show. We're not trying to be hard-nosed but we felt sick after reading posts by people scamming and lying in order to get fan club tickets to multiple shows. We know the new ticket pick-up procedure is the right thing to do. We're happy that people want to go to more than one show and for them and everyone else, there will be ticket sales to the general public later. The band feels like Ten Club members are entitled to two tickets per tour.

Confirmation Number
You must have your confirmation number and a photo ID when you pick up your tickets at will call so remember to include a stamped self-addressed envelope with your order if you want it mailed or please print your email address clearly on the ticket order form if you want it emailed.

DON'T FORGET to write your show selection and # of tickets requested on the front of the envelope.

Photo ID
If you don't have a picture ID, we will figure something out. Please bring your library card, a report card, something with your name on it.

Thanks!
Ten Club
