Pearl Jam, how about playing...

More thoughts you shared.

  • John: I would like to hear DO THE EVOLUTION in Minneapolis. Hopefully most of the mammals in the Target Center will be wearing pants.

  • Jon: No Way - Stone knows how to write songs that you just want to groove to. This would be a great addition to any PJ setlist.

  • Steve: Lowlight. It's the best song I've ever heard.

  • Brent B. in Corvallis, OR: RELEASE...I can't imagine a better way to start off the Portland concert than to have a pitch black Rose Garden while PJ opens with this...this magical song. REARVIEWMIRROR...the way it builds from that simple beginning riff into pure emotional/anger release at the end is incredible. NO WAY...Stone's song is just too cool not to play.

  • Kirsten at SLC: Do The Evolution! I read 'Ishmael' and this song means so much to me now! It is definitely one of the best songs they've ever done!) -Room A Thousand Years Wide (soundgarden cover...Ed would sound so cool screaming "tomorrow begat tomorrow, tomorrow beGAYAT tomorrow!") -Mankind (it would just be so cool to have Stone sing one!)

  • RNarCH: Definitely Patriot for the Dallas show- Not a dry eye in the house! I'd also like to hear Hunger Strike all the way through (not just a "sample") I can't possibly single any others out! How 'bout just playing till the sun comes up!

  • Jessica: *Breath*: Intricately powerful, lyrically vivid and one of my favorites: a song that always inspires me to do something I've never done before. Like Ed says, "tamper if you like between the doors." *The Wrong Child" by R.E.M.: It would be perfect for the Tibetan Freedom Concert with Michael Stipe.

  • Andrew for Seattle, Portland, and Montana: I would love to hear Breath (have heard that one in a while), MFC (the best song off of Yield), and Yellow Ledbetter (the best B-Side ever recorded). Thanx!

  • Wendi in So. Cal.: I'm going to the first L.A. show and I would like to hear EVERY SONG EVER RECORDED/PLAYED BY PEARL JAM! Just kidding, I know that's not possible, but I would really like to hear (if possible): "Rearviewmirror", "Immortality", and "Present Tense". Thank you.

  • Lorraine: This band is awesome, in both their talent and in their concerns for their fans! I do believe that the only PJ song I've never heard is "Brother", so that would be my top request. But I'd love to hear "No Way" live!

  • Carl: I wanna hear PJ pull out the once-played "Brother", left over from the "Ten" sessions... I realize the odds of this are 1 in 100,000, but what the hell... "All Those Yesterdays" has yet to be done live, so that would be a nice treat... and if the mood is right, maybe they can incorporate some nice Jams into "I've Got a Feeling"...

  • Bob: I personally would love to hear Sonic Reducer, State of Love and Trust, and Leatherman. All of these songs have brought interesting stories to my head. I really get into these stories everytime I listen. I would love to see what it would do to me experiencing them live.

  • Kelly at Denver: Play in hiding anything PJ wants to in hiding I will be happy just in hiding to see them in hiding play in Denver. Well maybe they could play In Hiding for me.

  • Jeff: The songs Long Road and Small Town have special meaning in my life due to the loss of my younger brother who, like myself, was (and probably still is), one of the biggest fans anywhere. We will be attending the Dallas, Knoxville and South Carolina shows. If anyone in the band is reading this, thanks for playing Footsteps in Charleston last tour. It was my wife who wrote the note. keep on keepin' on - jeff

  • Finkelman: Gremmie out of control: all i've got to say is COWABUNGA!!!!!! Brother: The hardest most powerful PJ song of life. Knockin on Heavens Door: Can you just imagine a whole arena of pearl jam nuts belting along with Eddie "knock knock knockin on heavens door"

  • Hey this is Myers from Virginia....you know, your BIGGEST FAN!! It would be great if you would play Little Wing at the Knoxville show, Mike is a Hendrix reincarnate! Also Sonic Reducer and Indifference. Any thing would be awesome though. You guys were amazing in Charlotte!!

  • Bernie: Yellow Ledbetter, Indifference, Nothingman: When I try to come up with reasons why Pearl Jam shouldn't play "Nothingman" in Seattle, I come up with nothing, man!

  • Jennifer: I love Pearl jam!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i only just got into them this year and i am so lucky. i am gonna see them in new york city. my dad got me tickets and he promised to take me!!!! I want to hear wish list and u and mfc all in a row!!!!!! i think it would sound so cool. don't you think so to?

  • Donut: Hi, I am Hammer, Donut's Doberman, and since we are being included please play "In Hiding"- because I am a crafty Dober and that is my favorite game.

  • Brian: Falling Down - The greatest PJ mystery... why was such a great sounding song laid to rest after one appearance. If not a b-side for our collections at least a nice acoustic version on the summer tour !!!

  • Marilyn: It's so hard to just pick 3!! I would ask for Tremor Christ, that is my husband's fav. Lowlight, cos that finally made my daughter a PJ fan and for me, Open Road, cos it always gives me shivers. Thanks!

  • Andrew: I'm going to the show in Barrie and I would love to hear Matt Cameron drum the intro to Rock and Roll (Led Zeppelin) A possible reunion with Chris Cornell could yield to a wonderful version of Hey Baby: Land of the New Rising Sun (Jimi Hendrix). I would also love if Ed came out before and did an acoustic version of Ben Harper's Walk Away.

  • The Starrs: I would definitely start the Sacramento show with Release. It's the perfect song with the perfect mood to start a show with. Likewise, I'd love to hear Yellow Ledbetter as a closer. This will be my first PJ concert, and I can't think of a better way to hear it. Finally, Believe You Me from the early recording sessions; I'd love to hear what they could do with that now.

  • Josh: I agree with whoever wrote in with Naked Eye or Water. Those are 2 great (rare) Who songs that I think could really be done well by P.J. Plus I've got to say that The Who and P.J. are my 2 favorite bands, and I love Quadrophenia (I loved it before I knew Eddie did so thats not why) and all the Who's stuff and I can't see anything better than P.J. doing Who songs.

  • David in Toronto: Please play whatever will make you happy and allow you to play a LONG set. If you're needing suggestions, how about: opening with Release, closing with Around The Bend (4 Jack) and how about I wanna Be Sedated originally by the Ramones.
  • STEFAN: I'll be at at three shows: LA, Dallas and Atlanta. Please play Long Road, it's your best song. Porch, with a 15 minute jam interlude and MFC, another song that could go forever.

  • Ellen: In Hiding: it epitomizes the spirit of the new album -- the human need to withdraw and be introspective and the simultaneous need to join and play a larger role in society.

  • DABayles: DTE. very high energy, great expression and emotion by e.v. - you play the part extaordinarily, music = great

  • Buzz: PJ rarities, nothing thats been on the radio :) Play stuff that you love pj!!

  • John Matalavy-Detroit: I think it is so great that PJ plays such different sets each show. So that i wouldn't miss any of them, I am driven 6 hours into Ohio to see PJ again, a week after i see them here in Mi. So either at the Breslin, or at Blossom Music Center i would love to hear the hard hitting songs: Blood, Sonic Reducer, and State of love and Trust. Thanks!!

  • Josh: Please don't show "Indifference" towards me, because as a " W.M.A" all I want is for my girlfriend and I to do is maintain this "State of Love and Trust" so that we can attend the upcoming show at Molson Park in Barrie (Toronto) Ontario.

  • Rich: I really need to hear Black in Toronto (or the NJ, NY1 or NY2) shows.. i saw Pearl Jam in Buffalo and they didn't play it.. it's the Pearl Jam song that means the most to me.. i would not stop crying if they were to play it.

  • Sharon at Toronto: Please, please. I Got Id, Dead Man Walking, Footsteps. Why? Sympathetic resonance with my soul (and they make me cry, which makes me happy). Thanks.

  • Ryan at Atlanta, Birmingham and Greenville: I think it would be great for everybody to hear an old Ed demo "Believe You Me." I think "Breath" would also be a pleasant surprise. Also, "Red Mosquito" has great guitar, and is a tremendous live song.

  • Matt in CO: There are so many classics to choose from, but the greats I need to hear this time around (please!) are "I Got Shit," "Hunger Strike," and "Breath."

  • Elsa: The Horse Chick..has requests from her dobermans..Max and Danger Boy, who are for DO THE EVOLUTION, when you hit Greenville, SC.

  • MZ: Suggestion: how about a cover of Bullet the Blue Sky-because Paul (Hewson) must die and Eddie would sound great, also a Pixies cover like Debaser would rock and lastly how about a dedication to Landrew the love child like Chloe Dancer/Crown of Thorns I bet Eddie would surely have the entire house weeping by the second chorus..............PS if these played in NJ would really kick butt.

  • Lee Dudley: Hello, this summer will be the second time I've gotten to see Pearl Jam, and I'm totally excited. As for requests, I would really love to hear at the Raliegh, North Carolina show: Nothingman, U, Garden. Thanks guys.

  • Who1977: "Baba O' Riley" is a great cover. I 'm a HUGE!!! Who fan and always enjoy it when Eddie and the boys play this one.

  • ByeL.A.: I'd dig a little 'All Those Yesterdays'... Great wave song.. It reels you in at the end and *!&#@ you with feeling..

  • CJ: Play Release, Sonic Reducer, and Nile Song (old pink floyd) in nyc. I work backstage at most nyc shows, and there's a 50% chance i'll be working down "dressing room row" at msg, so please play release. see you there! (hey, i'd be glad to fill in for matt for any song, during soundcheck. interested?)

  • Mike: How about a cover of Bob Dylan's 'Shooting Star'? If not please play Rats or Last Exit.

  • The Kirkelies: I'll be at the July 21 Seattle show and so if Tremor Christ, Hard To Imagine, and Indifference could be played at that show, that'd be incredible. Thanks.

  • Dothevltn: I'd have to say Smile, cos of the fun harmonica and rockin tune, Mankind cos Stone is so cool, and ALL THOSE YESTERDAYS- one of their greatest ever, it's lyrics are meaningful and the song builds up so beautifully

  • Ed: I'm flying across the country, from California, to see the Tibetan Freedom Concert. I would really like to see Stone get into the act with Mankind. It's a jammy song plus I've never seen Stone perform lead vocals. Also, slip MFC into the set list. The guitar and drums on that song are amazing!

  • José at Phoenix: Man of Golden Words is the song I'd really like to hear. Eddie told Cameron Crowe on the October 28th, 1993 Rolling Stone article he would do an Andy Wood song someday. Breath is another great song. And finally Leash would be fun.

  • Kibosh9: Present Tense- 'cause it's the best damn song in the WORLD! U & Happy When I'm Crying- 'cause they're fun!

  • Aric Catron in Onalaska, WA: I want to hear the Trilogy :) Oh, and just about everything else you guys have ever played live- if you have the time :)

  • Dan: I love it when PJ opens with Release and jumps off the thirteenth floor by crashing into Last Exit...but one song I love that didn't get played too much on the No Code tour was Sometimes (loved ya in Toledo, guys).

  • Eclectric at Indianapolis: 6 years now I've been listening to this band, and they've graced this town a total of one time, in 1991, about six months before I ever heard them, before their music changed my life forever. So I'm going to annoy all by placing a vote for Jeremy... the original version.

  • Phil Navarre: 1. WASH (it sounded killer in '91 and in '96 at the Showbox) 2. DAUGHTER (and end the song with some Andrew Wood Lyrics instead of Neil Young Lyrics) 3. W.M.A. (I'm sure Cameron could spice this up with his own flavor)

  • Meg: though all thier music is amazing, if Pearl Jam play 'Yellow Ledbetter' in Barrie that would make the night perfect because that song is so good live. 'Smile' and 'Black' are really good ones too.

  • James: I am going to see you guys 4 times this summer. Please play WHO YOU ARE. That is the one song that i want you to play because that was the first song i learned on guitar.

  • Tony B. Indianapolis: Pearl Jam should play whatever they damn well want to play. It's their party. I know I'll love whatever they do. I'll just be there relaxing and enjoying myself.
