The First Three Albums--Expanded and Enhanced In the tradition of Legacy's critically acclaimed Expanded Edition series (The Byrds, Spirit), these reissued masterpieces include all of the original music and album artwork and feature new liner notes written by Ben Fong-Torres (including new interviews with Carlos Santana and Gregg Rolie), unpublished photos, memorabilia, and, of course, unreleased bonus tracks!
Bonus Material--In addition to the complete original album, each expanded and enhanced Santana reissue contains three live bonus tracks. "Santana", the first album, reveals a taste of what brought them to the world's attention with three tracks from their legendary performance at Woodstock in August, 1969. Two of these recordings-- "Savor" and "Fried Neckbones"--have never been released, while a third, the now famous version of "Soul Sacrifice", was featured in the Woodstock movie and album.
"Abraxas" includes three stunning tracks from a concert at The Royal Albert Hall in April of 1970. None of these three performances---"Se A Cabo", "Toussaint L'Overture" & "Black Magic Woman/Gypsy Queen"---have ever been released before!
"Santana", the third album (better known as Santana III), features three performances from The Fillmore West in 1971. These never released recordings, "Batuka", "Jungle Strut" & "Gumbo", are absolutely blistering, and feature a guitar duel between Carlos Santana and new band member Neal Schon!
Each album has been 24-bit digitally mastered from the original source tapes for stunning sound quality. Overseen by reissue maven Bob Irwin, the mastering job was done by Vic Anesini at Sony Music Studios in New York City.
