Germany in 1973 was the epicenter for the first bloom of Eurodisco. Ohioan Johnny Wilder had been impressed by the scene while stationed there in the service, and upon his discharge returned to form an eight-member group which then relocated to London. An early recruit, U.K.-born keyboardist/arranger Ted Temperton, with one foot in funk and the other in disco, defined their sound and brought the hits. Plagued by misfortune and the fading interest of Temperton, Heatwave eventually called it quits, leaving us with this all-time classic. Temperton, by the way, went on to become an in-demand writer/sideman/producer.
