One of the brightest shows to hit Broadway in 1950, Wonderful Town was based on the short stories of Ruth McKeeney, chronicling the misadventures of two sisters from Ohio hoping to find their place in the sun in 1930s New York. In 1958, it received a television premiere, with Rosalind Russell as Ruth once again leading a corps of Chilean cadets into an ebullient, show-stopping conga.
