  Itching for more creative input, the Jackson Five wiggled out of their Motown contract and signed with Epic as The Jacksons. While their first two Gamble/Huff-produced Epic albums were well-received, it was the self-produced third-1978's Destiny-that stormed onto the dance floors and the charts. After nine years in the studio, The Jacksons had gathered the best players, arrangers and engineers in the business to unleash the sound they had always known was there. In addition to being a fine chunk of energy, "Shake Your Body" was also notable for being one of the first songs whose success was significantly bolstered by a popular dance.
