By 1981, the irresistibly romantic Julio Iglesias had sold 70 million Spanish language albums outside of the English-speaking world. That exclusion vanished three years later when Columbia put Julio in a studio crammed with fabulous American studio musicians and gave him 10 Anglo-friendly tunes to sing, three of these duets with American superstars (the Beach Boys, Diana Ross and Willie Nelson). The wildly-successful result, 1100 Bel Air Place, was accompanied by a blitzkrieg of promotion, including this great single and its equally great picture sleeve, which featured the Latin heartthrob in a momentary fit of Nelson-inspired frivolity.
(H. David /A. Hammond); Produced by Richard Perry; Willie Nelson and Julio Iglesias, vocals; other personnel, unknown; Rec. Los Angeles, 1983. Columbia 38-04217 (mx. ZSS 169494); P 1984 Sony Music Entertainment Inc.
