  During the first decade of rock, Columbia tried to stay relatively "with it" by signing youngish balladeers who might find some favor with the teen set, and Andy Williams was a likely candidate. Already a proven hit maker at independent Cadence Records ("Canadian Sunset," "Butterfly"), he arrived at Columbia and quickly became the label's main man at the movies, singing such Henry Mancini film-related gems as "Days Of Wine And Roses," "Charade" and "Moon River." The latter song became the title of his longest-charting album, the opening theme of his network TV show, and the name of his theater in Branson, Missouri.
