It made the careers of Peter Fonda and Dennis Hopper, and established Jack Nicholson, who appeared in a brief but superbly shaded characterization. The soundtrack also addressed itself to its young audience with songs by such contemporary artists as Steppenwolf, Jimi Hendrix and The Byrds, whose "Ballad Of Easy Rider" became an immediate generational anthem.
