Sporting a dual personality worthy of R.L. Stevenson's schizophrenic anti-hero, Dr. Byrds And Mr. Hyde found our boys still walking down those hot dusty roads in 1969. But it was guitarist Clarence White's time to shine, and The Byrds were poking their noses into music as tangential to their newly sprouted backwoods roots as ballroom acid rock and (believe it or not) rhythm and blues. And it all worked out just fine.

This album marked a yet another transitional period for the Byrds, renewing their energy, spirit and music, and has proven to be a record of sturdy, potent quality.

This Byrds Expanded Edition includes all original album info., plus insightful liner notes by David Fricke (Rolling Stone), detailed song annotations by renowned Byrds authority Johnny Rogan, unpublished photos, rare vintage ads and other memorabilia. This release contains rare and unreleased treasures from the 1968 recording session.
