Welcome to the Sony/Legacy CURRENTS SECTION. Here's what I've been up to lately:
I'm very excited about the Byrds reissues! Bob Irwin has sent me the tapes, and there are a lot of special bonus tracks that I think you'll really enjoy!
I've been touring the United States for the last two years doing my autobiographical one-man-play. We recorded it on DAT, and I cut it all together on a digital editor. Now it's out on Hollywood Records as a CD called "Live From Mars."
"Live From Mars," embodies acoustic versions of the rock anthems: "Mr. Tambourine Man," "Turn Turn Turn," "Eight Miles High," "Mr. Spaceman," "So You Want To Be A Rock 'n' Roll Star," and "Heartbreak Hotel." This album not only chronicles my career in the music business, the history of the Byrds, but also the history of music for the last 40 years! As an extra treat, "Live From Mars" features two new studio band tracks recorded with former members of the Minneapolis based band the Jayhawks.
While recording in Minneapolis, I visited the Mystery Science Theater 3000 set, and invited robot, Tom Servo (Kevin Murphy) to write the liner notes, and to appear on the album cover.
I have also been very active on the Internet. There are a number of Byrds related pages. Now I have a page of my own, where I bring the best of them together. This is a page that I can update any time, and I like to keep changing the content. It's at the bottom of this page, check it out!
When people ask me about my future plans, I like to remind them that Andres Segovia continued performing all his life. That's what I plan to do.
All the best .....
