(Nashville, TN): Sony Music Nashville President
Allen Butler and Don Cook, President of DKC Music have announced
plans to move the DKC imprint to Sony Music’s Monument Records label
effective November 1, 1999.
The move will shift Wade Hayes to Monument Records, giving the label
a high-profile male act with a string of #1 and Top 5 singles to
his credit. He will join superstar act the Dixie Chicks and new
breakthrough group Yankee Grey.
"Monument Records has a rich history with artists like Roy Orbison,
Dolly Parton and Kris Kristofferson, and we feel this new endeavor
with DKC makes the future look even brighter," said Butler. "The
Columbia Records team did an incredible job establishing Wade as
a constant hit maker, and the new relationship with Monument will
provide a great springboard for his next studio album," said Butler.
The new association will also provide the DKC Music label opportunities
to grow and break new acts, and announcements regarding additional
signings will be forthcoming.
"As a member of the Sony family, I am really proud of the success
we’ve had with Columbia Records, and I’m thrilled at the chance
to work with the Monument team." said Cook. "Monument has had incredible
success over the last two years, and it will be exciting to see
what we can accomplish with this new alliance."
