The artists on this project have selected one of their favorite country songs to record, which gave them the opportunity to pay homage to the history and tradition of country music. The recording of this album opened new creative outlets for some of these artists, such as Vince Gill and Trace Adkins, who were first time producers on Tribute To Tradition..

Sony Music Nashville Feels it would be inappropriate to release an album that pays tribute to the founding music and artists of our format without giving something back. Therefore, a portion of the proceeds from Tribute To Tradition will be donated to the proposed Country Music Retirement Center for artists, musicians and songwriters. Sony will make a $50,000 contribution up front as an advance against future royalties.

This album is dedicated to the memory of Tammy Wynette.
