When it came to the music for his visually stunning movie, Ridley Scott has opted as much for delicate arrangements as orchestral bombast – a noteworthy decision considering the truly monumental production. Strings, choir, featured soloists and soulful vocals complement Iglesias' trademark composing style in this breathtaking score. Iglesias provides the biblical material a historic yet modern feel. Wilson recorded Coming Forth By Day in Los Angeles at Seedy Underbelly studios with an A list musical team including producer Launay (Nick Cave, Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs, Arcade Fire), guitarists T Bone Burnett and Nick Zinner of the Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs, string arranger Van Dyke Parks and rhythm section The Bad Seeds (drummer Thomas Wydler and bassist Martyn P. Casey).

Hailing from Jackson, Mississippi, American jazz musician/vocalist/songwriter/producer Cassandra Wilson began playing piano at six, guitar by the age of twelve and was working as a vocalist by the mid-'70s, singing a wide variety of material.

After moving to New York City in the early 80's, Cassandra met saxophonist Steve Coleman and became one of the founding members of the groundbreaking M-Base Collective, pioneering proponents of a structured improvisation aesthetic that continues to influence the direction of jazz, fusion and jam-based rock.

Cassandra Wilson performed one of the leading roles in Wynton Marsalis' "Blood on the Fields", the first jazz work to receive a Pulitzer Prize.

NEW YORK, Nov. 7, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Sony Classical is pleased to announce the release of the original motion picture soundtrack of The Imitation Game, a biographical drama about the English code-breaker Alan Turing starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Keira Knightley. Composed by Alexandre Desplat, the score soundtrack will be available digitally on November 10 and on CD November 24.

The opening track of Desplat's score for The Imitation Game introduces a descending, rippling keyboard theme that reappears in variations in later tracks – first as a string accompaniment that sets the mood for a tragic, dramatic story. The second track skillfully interprets its title, "Enigma" (a reference to both the man Alan Turing and to the code-breaking project that made him famous), with fascinating sounds that evoke the ping of a sonar location and the underwater world, thus playing on the main theme of the story. While "U-Boats" features military sounds, other tracks such as "Carrots and Peas" provide contrasting quietness and emotion, and the musical complexity of "Crossword" relates to the workings of Turing's brilliant mind. Throughout the score, the full range of Desplat's big orchestral sounds come into play, and the composer once again displays his ability to enhance dramatic film scenes with fine music that is worthy to be heard in its own right.

French composer Alexandre Desplat made his breakthrough on the Hollywood scene in 2003 by composing a highly regarded score for The Girl With the Pearl Earring. He has contributed to over 100 films in France and Hollywood, received six Oscar nominations, and won a Golden Globe in 2006 for The Painted Veil and a Grammy for The King's Speech in 2011, both in the category Best Original Score. Desplat has also composed for the theatre, including the Comedie Francaise. He has conducted performances of his own music by the London Symphony Orchestra and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as giving master classes at the Sorbonne in Paris and the Royal College of Music in London. He has scored music for a wide range of films from Twilight Saga: New Moon to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (parts 1 and 2). Desplat has received six Academy Award nominations for Best Original Score for his work on The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, The Queen, The King's Speech, Fantastic Mr. Fox, Argo and Philomena

Directed by Tony-award winner John Tiffany (Black WatchOnce, The Glass Menagerie) and designed by Tony-award winner Christine Jones (Spring AwakeningQueen of the Night), The Ambassador—at once a theater piece, song cycle, and musical dreamscape— arrives in New York December 10-13 at Brooklyn Academy of Music's Harvey Theater as part of the Next Wave Festival and in Los Angeles February 27-28, 2015 at UCLA's Freud Playhouse. 

Kahane was born in Los Angeles and raised on the East Coast and in Northern California. "Starting in my late teens," he writes, "I began to spend more time in LA. I found myself chasing its soul— its aspiration, its spirit, its sadness— and wanted to express that. I've always had a preoccupation with buildings, and the relationships we form with them.  The songs on this album have varying narrative approaches: In 'Bradbury (304 Broadway)', I take on the role of Rutger Hauer as Roy Batty in the seminal neo-noir film Blade Runner, much of which was shot at the Bradbury Building. In 'Empire Liquor Mart (9127 S. Figueroa St.)' I tell the tragic story of Latasha Harlins— a fifteen year old African-American girl shot and killed in 1991, just a year before the LA Riots— from the perspective of the deceased.  It is my hope that in this multitude of voices, something new about Los Angeles is said."

Director John Tiffany began his career developing and directing new plays in Scotland, which quickly brought him to international attention. In the National Theatre of Scotland's first season, he directed Black Watch, which won multiple Olivier and Critics Awards. For Once, which was created in the basement of a church, Tiffany won the Tony Award for Best Direction of a Musical. Recent projects include The Glass Menagerie on Broadway, which was nominated for seven Tonys.

The Ambassador is an extension of Kahane's creative trajectory in recent years. His musical, February House, which was commissioned and produced by the Public Theater in New York, devoted an entire evening to a short-lived World War II-era commune at 7 Middagh Street in Brooklyn. More generally, Kahane has found inspiration in sources as varied as Craigslist (Craigslistlieder) and the American Guide Series, published by the WPA during the Great Depression (Gabriel's Guide to the 48 States).
