  • Epic/Legacy Recordings Releases Two New Remixes of The Jacksons' "Can You Feel It" Out Today: The Island Remix, Featuring David Sandborn & The Kirk Franklin Remix + An Inspirational Soul-Gospel Video For the Track
  • Apr 30

NEW YORK, April 30, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — Epic Records and Legacy Recordings, the catalog division of Sony Music Entertainment, today will release the second wave of expanded digital editions of essential titles in The Jacksons catalog: Triumph (1980), Victory (1984), and 2300 Jackson Street (1989).  In addition to The Jacksons X MLK remix released on March 19, the Triumph re-release includes two additional new remixes of The Jacksons’ “Can You Feel It”:  The Kirk Franklin Remix and The Island Remix featuring David Sanborn.

“These albums were released at a defining time in our career, and we thank Sony Music for recognizing the legacy of this music and our historic relationship with the label,” said Jackie, Marlon and Tito Jackson.

The third single from the Triumph album, “Can You Feel It” hit #1 on the Billboard Dance Club Charts (and #77 on the Hot 100) following its release in March 1981. Written and arranged by Michael Jackson and Jackie Jackson, the track was produced by The Jacksons and features lead vocals by Michael and Randy Jackson accompanied by gospel choirs.

On Kirk Franklin’s remix of the classic Jacksons recording, the Grammy Award-winning contemporary gospel artist reminds everyone that “the winds of change are blowing your way” while channeling a Sunday church service with gospel musicians and choir, the soulful vocals of the legendary Tamela Mann and Franklin’s own call-and-response with Michael Jackson.  This remix also serves as the electrifying soundtrack to a new music video set in a church and celebrating the inspirational soul-gospel vibe and message of the song.

Produced by Greg Curtis, “Can You Feel It” (The Island Remix) showcases six-time Grammy-winning saxophonist/jazz legend David Sanborn lending his signature sound to the laidback groove propelling this new mix.

The new “Can You Feel It” music video and remixes are the latest installments in this year’s celebration of the groundbreaking series of albums The Jacksons recorded for Epic Records from 1976-1989.

The Jacksons’ definitive album project:
The expanded digital releases of Triumph, Victory and 2300 Jackson Street are now available alongside The Jacksons (1976), Goin’ Places (1977) and Destiny (1978), released February 12. The six studio albums recorded by The Jacksons for Epic Records trace the group’s spectacular transformation from their Jackson 5 boy band roots to their role as avatars of an R&B/pop revolution (1976-1989). Each title includes the original album in its entirety, bundled with additional bonus tracks and may be ordered here:

  • Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets Announce Live At The Roundhouse Out April 17
  • Jan 30

NEW YORK, Jan. 30, 2020 /PRNewswire/ —

“If you have the slightest interest in Pink Floyd, do not miss Nick Mason’s Saucerful Of Secrets… You won’t even need acid to blow your mind.”
Michael Hann, Financial Times

“A fantastic voyage of rediscovery.”
David Bennun, Metro

“Immense, electrifying, galvanizing, mesmerizing and still deeply strange, bending the formats of primal rock into all kind of weird and wonderful shapes…a set of such startling intensity it seemed to mock the very notion of nostalgia.”
Neil McCormick, The Daily Telegraph

“A beautifully woven musical tapestry crafted from strands of Pink Floyd’s DNA, but also so much more.”
– Modern Drummer

Legacy Recordings, a division of Sony Music Entertainment is proud to announce the release of Nick Mason’s Saucerful Of Secrets Live At The Roundhouse, an extraordinary all-new concert recording featuring an array of Pink Floyd classics rarely performed by the band during its lifetime. The 22-track collection arrives April 17 as a double-CD/DVD package, double-vinyl, and on Blu-ray; pre-orders are available now. Additionally, the band today shares the song/video for “Fearless” as an exclusive video trailer.

Also, in collaboration with Trafalgar Releasing and Sony Music Entertainment, Nick Mason’s Saucerful Of Secrets Live At The Roundhouse will be coming to cinemas in selected cities worldwide for one night only on March 10, 2020. This theatrical event will also include a pre-recorded cinema exclusive Q&A with Nick Mason and the band where they will answer questions submitted by fans. Tickets are on sale now from NickMasonFilm.com.

Nick Mason – founding drummer and the only constant member of Pink Floyd since their 1965 formation – united Gary Kemp (guitar, vocals), Guy Pratt (bass, vocals), Lee Harris (guitar), and Dom Beken (keyboards) as Nick Mason’s Saucerful Of Secrets in 2018, fueled in part by the desire to perform the legendary band’s pre-Dark Side of the Moon material, timeless songs which had not been played on stage in decades.

An invitation-only performance at London’s Dingwalls was met by rapturous acclaim and followed by a sold out theatre tour of North America, Europe, and the United Kingdom. The band returned in 2019, including two sold out May shows at The Roundhouse – the historic Camden venue where Pink Floyd famously played on October 15, 1966, teaming with Soft Machine for an “All Night Rave” launching the famed underground newspaper, International Times.

Nick Mason’s Saucerful Of Secrets Live At The Roundhouse captures what has proven a remarkable band all its own, infusing archetypal Floyd favorites with infectious passion, great power, and subtle restraint. From the garage band attack of “Arnold Layne” and “Vegetable Man” to the psychedelic journeying of “Interstellar Overdrive” and the mellow expanse of “Atom Heart Mother,” “Fearless,” and “Green Is the Colour,” Nick Mason’s Saucerful of Secrets Live At The Roundhouse brings to life music rarely heard onstage since Pink Floyd’s halcyon first era, thrillingly revived for a new generation.

Indeed, Nick Mason’s Saucerful Of Secrets has been met with sold out houses and ecstatic critical applause around the world:

“A thrillingly raw 90-minute set of (Pink Floyd’s) early psychedelic rock…Notable highlights included a searing ‘Lucifer Sam’ and the visceral white noise rush of ‘Set The Controls For The Heart of the Sun,’ while early singles ‘See Emily Play’ and ‘Arnold Layne’ were reborn with a fresh intensity and power. There were also revivals of languid instrumental tracks and dazzling, semi-improvised psychedelic guitar wig-outs that harked back to the loose structures and unconventional time signatures changes of the Syd Barrett era.”
Billboard

“Mason has assembled a crew that has some fealty to the original arrangements, but not so much faithfulness that it doesn’t feel more like an actual bona fide rock band than the Floyd itself arguably did in its later years. This is a group that has the chops to carry off the chosen mission to the satisfaction of the heartiest prog and jam-band enthusiasts, but also brings some madcap laughs and (Syd) Barrett.”
Variety

“Mason was simply mesmerizing…relaxed, comfortable, and obviously enjoying the music and his fellow musicians. It was amazing to watch Mason perform classic Floyd tracks with smooth, calibrated timing and gorgeous sonic textures.”
Modern Drummer

Nick Mason’s Saucerful of Secrets plays the music of (Pink Floyd’s) early years from 1965-1972 and they do it with gusto…The most likely place to hear someone lay down these early gems would be in some dingy punk club. That’s the vibe they carry and it’s the spirit (Mason) served them up with.”
Vancouver Sun

“A must-see concert experience…the genius of this project is that is concentrates solely on Pink Floyd’s pre-1973 catalog. The result is a heady psychedelic workout that, simply put, all big Pink Floyd fans should experience.”
The Mercury News

Mason – who last year was named as a “Prog God” at Prog Magazine‘s prestigious Progressive Music Awards in London, joining the ranks of such previously honored icons as Peter Gabriel, Tony Banks, Jon Anderson, Rick Wakeman, Ian Anderson, Carl Palmer, and Steve Howe – will soon return to the road with Saucerful Of Secrets for the band’s biggest tour schedule thus far. The “More Games For May Tour” – which takes its name from Pink Floyd’s milestone 1967 concert at London’s Queen Elizabeth Hall – begins this April with UK dates and a European run that includes visits to Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, France, Austria, Czech Republic, Denmark, and the Netherlands. North American dates will be announced soon – for updates and more, please visit www.thesaucerfulofsecrets.com.

  • Dec 19

NEW YORK, Dec. 19, 2019 /PRNewswire/ — As the lyric of the famed “The Christmas Song” proclaims, “from kids from one to ninety-two,” singer Tony Bennett has been celebrating the holiday season for 93 years and his heart-warming catalog of holiday recordings and original artwork are now featured on “Tony Bennett’s Holiday Yule Log,” launching on the 19-time Grammy winner’s YouTube channel today at 11 am EST.

SEE HERE: https://TonyBennett.lnk.to/YuleLogPR

The animated video presents a dozen of Bennett’s classic holiday tracks, with over 30 minutes of music. Included are two new Bennett recordings from Christmas with The Stars and The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, released last month through Legacy Recordings, a division of Sony Music Entertainment. Bennett’s versions of “The Christmas Song” and “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” were reimagined with stunning new arrangements performed by The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Steven Sidwell. The remaining ten tracks originate from Bennett’s own holiday albums: Snowfall, Tony Bennett and the Count Basie Orchestra: A Swingin’ Christmas and The Classic Christmas Album.

Tony Bennett’s original artwork is the imagery for the yule log animation from a painting titled, “Home Is Where The Heart Is,” which he initially created for the American Cancer Society’s Holiday Card Series to support cancer research. Bennett has for over 25 years contributed a holiday image for the charity’s annual holiday card series. The opening visual for the video also features another of Bennett’s holiday paintings titled, “Happy Holidays.” Tony Bennett, who paints under his family name, Benedetto, has been painting all his life and three of his original paintings are part of the permanent collection of the Smithsonian Institute. This marks the first time that Bennett’s original artwork has been animated.

  • New Box Set Release Date: December 13, 2019 'Pink Floyd The Later Years'
  • Oct 30

NEW YORK, Oct. 30, 2019 /PRNewswire/ — Pre-order link here: https://pinkfloyd.lnk.to/TheLaterYears

On December 13, 2019 Pink Floyd Records will release ‘Pink Floyd The Later Years’, a 16-disc set (5xCDs, 6xBlu-Rays, 5xDVDs) covering the material created by David Gilmour, Nick Mason and Richard Wright from 1987 onwards. The period generated record sales of over 40 million worldwide and included three studio albums: ‘A Momentary Lapse Of Reason’, ‘The Division Bell’ and ‘The Endless River’ as well as two live albums: ‘Delicate Sound Of Thunder’ and ‘Pulse’. With additional production from David Gilmour and Andy Jackson, over 13 hours of unreleased audio and audiovisual material, including the sought-after 1989 Venice and 1990 Knebworth concerts, ‘Pink Floyd The Later Years’ is a must for all fans.

A multi-media, deluxe box set, ‘Pink Floyd The Later Years’ presents an expanded view of the Pink Floyd story from 1987 to the present and kicks off with ‘A Momentary Lapse Of Reason’, the album that confirmed Pink Floyd as one of the world’s biggest artists.

The album, presented for the first time in 5.1, has been updated and remixed by David Gilmour and Andy Jackson. The release of The Later Years project gives an opportunity for a fresh overview of the ‘A Momentary Lapse Of Reason’ album. By returning to some of Richard Wright’s keyboard parts and recording new drum tracks with Nick Mason, producers David Gilmour and Bob Ezrin have restored the creative balance between the three Pink Floyd members.

Throughout 1987 and 1988 the band’s live shows became the largest-grossing concert tour ever to that date and produced the critically acclaimed, Grammy Award nominated, ‘Delicate Sound Of Thunder’. Filmed at the Nassau Coliseum in New York State, the concert shows the band on the top of their form. The concert has been fully upgraded and re-edited from the original 35mm film negatives by Aubrey ‘Po’ Powell and Benny Trickett and the sound remixed to 5.1. It also includes Terminal Frost and Welcome To The Machine, two tracks that were not included on the original concert film release. For the first time the concert is available in 5.1 on Blu-ray and DVD.

Two of the most sought-after additions to ‘Pink Floyd The Later Years’ are the 1989 Venice Concert, performed on a floating stage in front of St Mark’s Square, and the 1990 Silver Clef Winners performance at Knebworth. Both concerts, previously unreleased, are now available on both DVD and Blu-ray (145mins). The momentous Knebworth concert saw Pink Floyd topping the all-star bill (that included Paul McCartney, Dire Straits, Genesis, Phil Collins, Eric Clapton and Tears For Fears), in aid of the Nordoff Robbins charity, profits from which went towards setting up the BRIT School. David Gilmour and Andy Jackson have remixed the audio from this iconic concert and all 7 tracks performed on the day (with guest musicians including sax player Candy Dulfer, the original The Great Gig In The Sky vocalist Clare Torry, keyboard player Michael Kamen and Sam Brown with her mother, Vicki, on vocals), are released here as well as for the first time ever on CD.

Pink Floyd performed “Wish You Were Here” on June 30, 1990 at the Silver Clef Awards Winners performance at Knebworth, Hertfordshire, UK, in aid of the Nordoff Robbins Music Centre and The BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology. Featuring David Gilmour (Guitar, Vocals), Nick Mason (Drums), Richard Wright (Keyboards, Vocals) with Guy Pratt (Bass, Vocals), Jon Carin (Keyboards, Vocals), Tim Renwick (Guitar), Gary Wallis (Percussion).

1994’s album ‘The Division Bell’ sold over 12 million copies, having debuted at No 1 in the UK, the USA, Australia and New Zealand. It stayed at the top of the US charts for 4 weeks, and also went to No 1 in six other countries. The resulting tour was captured and recorded for the concert release ‘Pulse’. This release contains the entire ‘Pulse’ live concert film, re-edited and upgraded from the original masters, from the groundbreaking Earl’s Court gigs, and available for the first time on Blu-ray. Also uncovered for the first time is footage of the band in rehearsals on 20 October 1994 performing A Great Day For Freedom and Lost For Words.

In 2014, Pink Floyd released ‘The Endless River’, comprising mostly instrumental and ambient music based on material recorded during ‘The Division Bell’ sessions. Featuring David Gilmour, Nick Mason and Richard Wright, additional material was recorded in 2013 and 2014, with one song, Louder than Words, with lyrics by author & novelist Polly Samson (the primary lyricist for ‘The Division Bell’ album).  ‘The Endless River’ became the most pre-ordered album of all time on Amazon UK and debuted at number one in several countries. The vinyl edition was the fastest-selling UK vinyl release since 1997. Included here for the first time is the never previously seen specially commissioned full 52-minute ‘The Endless River’ film by Ian Emes, famed for his work with Pink Floyd, including his animations for One Of These Days, Speak To Me, Time and On The Run.

Rounding off the package are hours of unreleased bonus materials including music videos, documentary footage, bonus live tracks, upgraded tour screen films and documentaries. It includes the first ever release, on Blu-ray, DVD and 7″ vinyl, of the last live performance of Pink Floyd with David Gilmour, Nick Mason and Richard Wright together in 2007. This special performance of Arnold Layne took place at the Syd Barrett Tribute Concert at The Barbican on 10 May 2007. The full set boasts previously unreleased or remixed audio, plus restored, remastered and re-edited audio-visuals including unreleased concert footage and promo clips.

With the help of Nick Mason and the Pink Floyd archive, the box set comes with reproductions of tour artwork, posters, programmes, tour laminates, lyric book and much more including two 7″ vinyl singles, (the live version of Arnold Layne performed at the Syd Barrett Tribute Concert in 2007 and Lost For Words from the ‘Pulse’ tour rehearsals at Earl’s Court), in new picture sleeves and etched image B-sides. Also included is a brand new 60-page hardback book of photos, designed by Aubrey Powell of Hipgnosis and Peter Curzon of StormStudios, including many previously unseen images.

The 5 CDs are encased in their own 40-page hardback book with an extensive guide to all content, tracklists and credits.

Released earlier on November 29, 2019, there will also be a 2-LP / 1-CD ‘Highlights’ package. It comes in a gatefold sleeve (for both 1-CD and 2-LP), and each will contain a 24-page booklet containing previously unseen and rare photos.

‘Pink Floyd The Later Years‘ will be released on December 13, 2019 and is available to pre-order here:
