IL VOLO SINGS MORRICONE is comprised of 14 songs that recall the Maestro’s legendary melodies from “The Ecstasy of Gold” (from The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly), featuring new lyrics written specifically for the trio by Ennio Morricone’s son, Andrea Morricone to “Your Love” (from Once Upon a Time in the West). Another highlight is “I colori dell’amore” (“The Colors of Love”), an unreleased track composed by Andrea for the trio, which was unexpectedly performed live for the first time at The Arena di Verona on June 5, 2021. Rounding out the album is “E più ti penso” (“The More I Think of You”), a medley of Ennio Morricone’s scores from the films Once Upon a Time in America and Malèna, a nod to the trio’s live performance of the song with the Maestro at Piazza del Popolo in Rome in 2011. It also features three artist collaborations: violinist David Garrett on “La Califfa” (“The Lady Caliph”), HAUSER from 2CELLOS on “Se” (“If”) and trumpet player Chris Botti on “Come Sail Away.”

In celebration of their new album, Il Volo will also embark on a world tour, which kicks off in North America on March 4, 2022 in Canada and continues to the United States beginning March 11.  The 25-date North American tour will include stops at iconic venues like Radio City Music Hall in New York, Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, and the Orpheum Theatre in San Francisco. Available September 24 via Sony Masterworks, the album was produced by Theo Croker and features Wyclef Jean, Ari Lennox, Gary Bartz, Charlotte Dos Santos, Iman Omari, Malaya, and Kassa Overall.  With the announcement comes a video for the new track “STATE OF THE UNION 444” Ft. Wyclef Jean who notes:

“I love the idea of taking it back to the future. The vibe of this song is just when we look at what has happened to us as a people, like literally in the past 40 years, and how history constantly keeps repeating itself … so this is like a cry of the youth, but it’s a different kind of cry – we’ve heard cries of freedom. We’ve cried for freedom so many times, and we’ve sung “we shall overcome” so many times, but we still don’t see things overcoming. So, this is like the youth – when you hear Theo hitting those horns, and you hear that track – it’s a revolution. And this revolution, unlike the other revolution, this one has been televised. And it’s been televised through every social outlet in the world. A contemporary oratorio, the 13 tracks that make BLK2LIFE || A FUTURE PAST are inspired by the forgotten hero’s journey towards self-actualization within the universal origins of blackness. It’s a sonic celebration of Afro-origin, and ultimately a reclamation of the culture, for the culture. “Our hero receives a transmission from his ancestors while in meditation that sets him on a mission to raise the planet’s vibrations through music that defies the confines of a ‘genre’ and frees the culture from the imminent threat of commercial gentrification,” says Theo. 

Written in the solitude of his childhood home in Leesburg, Florida, during the pandemic much of the album was informed by psilocybin meditations and astral travels. By retreating inward, Theo extracted a universal story with major implications and spiritual resonances.  “In the beginning, the universe was birthed out of a black hole,” he says. “Everything came from blackness.  Black is every color combined.  So, all cultures are full of this rich blackness.  It isn’t a racial statement; it’s about understanding and accepting that this is not a new cultural phenomenon or new science, that we can reclaim our origins, traditions, and culture to better the future. I’m making a statement with the title and project, ‘I can be an artist first before I am a black artist’. I can be a musician, creator, and producer without category.”

Theo will hit the road in support of the new album starting with a two-week residence at San Francisco’s Black Cat this August. NEW YORK, June 11, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — Sony Masterworks will release Reflect, the debut studio album from Tony, Emmy, Grammy and Pulitzer Prize Award-winning composer Tom Kitt on August 13.  Available for preorder now, the album features music from Kitt and lyrics from some of his most talented friends that began at the height of the Broadway shutdown, when so many artists were looking for an outlet for their creativity. Making its debut alongside today’s preorder is the album’s lead single “Breathe,” co-written with and performed by Kitt’s Jagged Little Pill collaborator, Tony Award nominee Elizabeth Stanley – listen here. 

Reflect features songs co-written and performed by some of Broadway’s biggest stars, including Adrienne Warren, Mandy Gonzalez, Michael McElroy, Jenn Colella, Danny Burstein, Javier Muňoz, Lauren Patten, Jerry Dixon, Elizabeth Stanley, Heidi Blickenstaff, Brian d’Arcy James and Pearl Sun along with Kitt’s own children Julia and Michael Kitt. An album about finding your voice when you need it most, Reflect is a true collaboration that captures the hope and heartbreak of the tumultuous times we’re living through.

“During the early weeks of the pandemic, I was in a very dark place and found myself creatively paralyzed,” said Kitt. “But given all of the important issues and the calls for social justice, I felt like I needed to find my resilience to create. I wanted to make a song cycle for this moment but felt it needed to be a collaborative effort so that many voices and experiences were represented. I called a few of my friends to ask if they’d be interested in writing with me, and the response was overwhelming.”

Prompted by Kitt, the artists wrote a version of an essay, poem, lyrics, or statement conveying personal emotions and experiences during this time. Tom sat at the piano to transform the language from these personal statements into the music and lyrics, and went on to share the songs with a group of extraordinary  orchestrators, with the goal of working with as many members of the theater community as possible. “It was just like a Broadway show,” he said. “I channeled my creativity into something current. I think everyone felt the same thing – a real jolt to feel like we were working together again, even if it was over ZOOM in many cases.”

The album also includes a track called “She Has Hope,” performed by Brian d’Arcy James and written by Moulin Rouge Tony Award nominee Danny Burstein and his wife Rebecca Luker, who passed away from ALS in December 2020.

NEW YORK, June 11, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — Genre-redefining pianist, composer, and producer Chloe Flower has released a new song and video, “Bohemia,” ahead of her debut album release on July 16, 2021 via Sony Music Masterworks. “Bohemia” blends trap beats with passionate piano and is accompanied by the release of a dazzling and provocative music video featuring Tony, Golden Globe, and Emmy winning actor Jeffrey Wright (James Bond, Westworld).  Watch the video for “Bohemia” HERE and purchase or stream the track HERE.

Inspired by the 20th anniversary of iconic musical blockbuster Moulin Rouge, the video was filmed at the notoriously exclusive New York City cabaret club, The Box. The scene opens in a cloud of cigar smoke as Wright plays host to a sultry evening with Chloe Flower, the star of the night, ultimately slaying the crowd from the stage with hypnotic beats and seductive piano playing.

With a nod to the Oscar-winning costume design of Moulin Rouge, Chloe Flower stuns the audience in a hand-crafted, one-of-a-kind couture corset by luxury brand with a rebellious twist, The Blondes. 

Of “Bohemia“, Chloe Flower notes: 

“I am used to not fitting in. Growing up, I didn’t always fit in with the traditional Asian community and I didn’t totally fit in with my mostly white community.  In music, my experience was exactly the same – I didn’t fit into the classical music scene, but as an instrumentalist, I didn’t fit into the pop world either. Rather than conforming, I decided I would embrace my distinctive style, and ‘Bohemia‘ is a perfect example of my new genre, POPSICAL, both visually and musically. 

“I wrote ‘Bohemia‘ as the movie score to a mysterious and thrilling story of Bohemians embracing their authentic eccentricity, and I am so happy that my friend Jeffrey joined me in telling their passionate tale.” 

Broken down into three acts (I. Innocence, II. Suffering and III. Hope), Chloe Flower is a sublime collection composed, produced and recorded in the artist’s New York City apartment during the Covid-19 pandemic. The body of work features spoken word from Deepak Chopra and an interpretation of Billie Eilish’s chart-topping hit “Bad Guy.” Encompassing sweet melodies, hip-hop, and trap beats, Chloe Flower is a modern-day classical sensation, pushing the boundaries with her unique self-created Popsical genre.
