- Sony Music Group Supports the John Lewis Voting Rights Act
- Apr 13, 2021
At Sony Music Group, we believe the right to vote is fundamental to American democracy and we support every eligible voter’s ability to make their voice heard in the elections that shape their country and communities. Last year, SMG was proud to contribute to historic turnout in the 2020 U.S. Presidential Election through our Your Voice, Your Power, Your Vote campaign. We also stated our commitment to supporting civic engagement and social justice well beyond election season and that includes making it easier for everyone to exercise their protected right to vote.
As an extension of this work, SMG is proud to support the John Lewis Voting Rights Act (HR 4). This proposed bill would restore Federal review of changes to voting laws in states with a documented history of voting rights violations and take steps to prevent the passage of voter suppression laws that disproportionately disenfranchise people of color, young voters, and the elderly.
