Apr 22, 2015 | Dee Dee's Feathers Featuring Dee Dee Bridgewater, Irvin Mayfield & The New Orleans Jazz Orchestra

Available August 11, 2015

A Stunning Homage To The People And Culture Of New Orleans In Recognition And Honor Of The 10th Anniversary Of Hurricane Katrina

"It is the underlying story of triumph that makes me most proud of this work. The waters of Katrina took so much from so many in New Orleans…We can only see this project as a tangible example of rebirth and healing and love, through the art of Jazz. Love is the greatest story ever told, and this collaboration proves there's much to be had in New Orleans, and shared with everyone, everywhere." - Soledad O'Brien, CNN Anchor/Journalist

Apr 22, 2015

NEW YORK, April 22, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Dee Dee's Feathers, a journey through the history of New Orleans as told through song and the collaboration of Dee Dee Bridgewater, Irvin Mayfield & The New Orleans Jazz Orchestra (NOJO), is set for release August 11th, 2015, via OKeh/Sony Music/DDB Records.  Recorded at New Orleans' Esplanade Studios, a studio in a reconverted historical church in the heart of the city that was badly damaged by Hurricane Katrina, the release of Dee Dee's Feathers will be accompanied by tour dates worldwide including stops at The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, North Sea Jazz Festival, Montreal Jazz Festival, the Barbican in London and New York City's famed Apollo Theatre on Halloween.

"It was at the groundbreaking ceremony of the future site of the Jazz Market where I had the idea of a collaborative recording," said Bridgewater.  "I thought that Irvin Mayfield, NOJO, and I needed a musical 'calling card' so to speak, a product that epitomized the joys of our accumulative collaborations. When I shared the idea with Irvin, the seed was planted. After several emails, Irvin's song suggestions, song keys picked out over the phone, we found ourselves at Esplanade Studio exactly one month later. Under Irvin Mayfield's skillful leadership, band members had done the arrangements, and over the course of three days we recorded, filmed, bonded, and laughed our way through the most extraordinary recording experience I've had. The music turned out so good, with my dear friend Dr. John blessing us on a day's notice, Bill Summers' magical percussive layers, and a host of well-known NOLA characters.   I knew Irvin and his band mates had bathed me, immersed me, baptized me in the waters of the Mississippi, and exposed me to the roots of New Orleans.  For me this album is a celebration of life itself."

Added Mayfield, "This album is a testament to the continued relevance of New Orleans not only as a thriving city but also as a muse for communicating truth, love and beauty. Dee Dee Bridgewater leads us through a new artistic moment while answering a mandate created over a century ago by Jazz geniuses like Buddy Bolden, Jelly Roll Morton, Sidney Bechet and Louis Armstrong.  She proves through her art that New Orleans is not just a city but more importantly an idea that can make your heart and soul feel better."

Although steeped in history, Dee Dee's Feathers is at the same time a modern exploration of the music and culture that makes New Orleans a city and place unlike any other.   Traditional songs such as "Big Chief" (featuring guest artist Dr. John), "Saint James Infirmary" and "What A Wonderful World" – all songs indicative to and steeped in the culture of the Big Easy – co-mingle with new compositions such as "Congo Square" and "C'est Ici Que Je T'aime," transporting the listener on a sensory voyage through the city, whether dancing in a Second Line or frequenting a storied bordello in the heart of the city's French Quarter.

The launch of the album and tour will also be tied-into the opening of NOJO's New Orleans Jazz Market later in 2015.  The first solely-dedicated space for Jazz and Education in New Orleans, Bridgewater will serve on the Board of Directors for the facility and has made a commitment to furthering music and education in the city in tandem with the facility.

Also being released in tandem with Dee Dee's Feathers is Mayfield's new book, New Orleans Jazz Playhouse, a 304-page coffee table book that includes seven CDs of live music recorded at his Bourbon Street Jazz club, Irvin Mayfield's Jazz Playhouse. The book reflects on Irvin's unique experiences as a New Orleans native, a Jazz musician, and the many influences in his life including countless musicians, artists, photographers, chefs, teachers, and other mentors. Unifying and grounding the various stories, poems, and essays are two central concepts that permeate the book: jazz & love. Illustrating Mayfield's  well-crafted words is a collection of some of the most culturally significant photography and artwork by master craftspeople such as John Scott, Gordon Parks, George Rodrigue, Herman Leonard, Greg Miles, and Erika Goldring, and the book features an introduction by biographer  Walter Isaacson, a foreword by novelist Ernest Gaines, and an afterword by trumpeter and jazz-master Wynton Marsalis.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Dee Dee Bridgewater

Over the course of a multifaceted career spanning four decades, Grammy and Tony Award-winning Jazz giant Dee Dee Bridgewater has ascended to the upper echelon of vocalists, putting her unique spin on standards, as well as taking intrepid leaps of faith in re-envisioning jazz classics. Ever the fearless voyager, explorer, pioneer and keeper of tradition, the three-time Grammy-winner recently won the 2011 Grammy for Best Jazz Vocal Album for Eleanora Fagan (1915-1959): To Billie With Love From Dee Dee. Bridgewater's career has always bridged musical genres. She earned her first professional experience as a member of the legendary Thad Jones/Mel Louis Big Band, and throughout the 70's she performed with such jazz notables as Max Roach, Sonny Rollins, Dexter Gordon and Dizzy Gillespie. After a foray into the pop world during the 1980s, she relocated to Paris and began to turn her attention back to Jazz. Signing with the Universal Music Group as a producer (Bridgewater produces all of her CDs), Bridgewater released a series of critically-acclaimed titles beginning with KeepingTradition in 1993. All but one, including her wildly successful double Grammy Award-winning tribute to Ella Fitzgerald, Dear Ella - have received Grammy nominations. Bridgewater also pursued a parallel career in musical theater, winning a Tony Award for her role as "Glinda" in The Wiz in 1975. Her other theatrical credits include Sophisticated Ladies, Black Ballad, Carmen, Cabaret and the West End Production of Lady Day, for which Bridgewater received the British Laurence Olivier Nomination for Best Actress in a Musical. As a Goodwill Ambassador to the United Nations' Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), Bridgewater continues to appeal for international solidarity to finance global grassroots projects in the fight against world hunger.

New Orleans Jazz Orchestra

The New Orleans Jazz Orchestra creates Jazz to enhance life, transform place, and elevate spirit.  NOJO inspires freedom and culture in the individual and the global community by creating authentic, engaging Jazz experiences that celebrate the origins and transform the future of Jazz. As a performing arts organization, our goal is to strengthen the business of Jazz through performances, tours, recordings, education and media platforms. NOJO is the first and only performing arts institution committed solely to the development of an Industry for Jazz in the city that created it. Artistic Director Irvin Mayfield founded NOJO in 2002 as a powerful vehicle for celebrating and advancing the cultural and historical legacy of New Orleans Jazz. The concept came to Mayfield after he created the Institute of Jazz Culture at Dillard University as the youngest member of the faculty. As he looked around the City for a partner in the Jazz Industry, he found that there was no institution committed solely to the business of Jazz or performing it 24 hours a day, seven days a week, in the city that created it. This led Mayfield to create the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra, designed to celebrate and fortify the American Jazz portfolio while providing infrastructure for developing the New Orleans Jazz Industry. Mayfield assembled a 16-piece band and enlisted NOJO President & CEO Ronald Markham. NOJO had its first performance in early 2003 at Tipitina's. NOJO made history on November 17, 2005 when they symbolically reopened New Orleans with the performance of a piece composed by Mayfield, All the Saints, at Christ Church Cathedral. This commission served New Orleans as the first major cultural event inside the city post-Katrina. As a non-profit organization, NOJO has forged an academic partnership with the University of New Orleans, where it oversees the New Orleans Jazz Institute (NOJI). NOJO has headlined all of America's major performing arts venues and clubs and produced the first local, ticketed Jazz Concert Series in the history of New Orleans. NOJO's latest album, BOOK ONE on World Village, a subsidiary of the Harmonia Mundi label, won the 2010 Grammy Award for "Best Large Jazz Ensemble." NOJO recently celebrated their 10-year anniversary with The NOJO 10, a series that featured events at Preservation Hall, Tipitina's, the New Orleans Museum of Art, and even New York City's prestigious Carnegie Hall.

Apr 20, 2015 | Natalie Imbruglia Releases Music Video For New Single "Instant Crush"

Premieres On Mashable.com & Entertainment Tonight

From Upcoming New Album "Male" - Available July 28

Apr 20, 2015

NEW YORK, April 20, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Three-time Grammy nominee, songwriter, actor and model, Natalie Imbruglia releases a music video for her new single "Instant Crush" from her highly anticipated forthcoming album Male (Portrait/Sony Masterworks).

Entertainment Tonight exclusively premiered the video over the weekend on TV followed by Mashable.com who premiered it on their site today. Click here to view: http://mashable.com/2015/04/20/natalie-imbruglia/.

"Instant Crush" was originally recorded by the electro-pop Grammy winners Daft Punk.  The song was written by the duo's Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, along with The Strokes' Julian Casablancas who also sang on the original track.

Of the Mad Men-esque video treatment Imbruglia says: "Joe Stephenson, the director is an immense talent. I fell in love with his treatment. The dark stepford wives vibe, and his reference of Gregory Crewdson's photography. Such beautiful colors and mood. It's so cinematic and gives the song a whole new dimension."

Imbruglia finds inspiration for her new album from her favorite male artists.  Male, her first album since 2009, is a collection of classic and contemporary songs all performed by men including those of Cat Stevens, Damien Rice, Tom Petty, Pete Townshend and Zac Brown Band among others. It is produced by Billy Mann, who has also worked with artists like Pink, John Legend, Celine Dion, Martina McBride, and Sting, among others.

The platinum-selling Imbruglia is best known for her hit song "Torn" and the accompanying video from her debut album Left of the Middle (1997), which sold 7 million copies worldwide.  The single hit No. 1 on multiple charts around the world, including the U.S. Billboard Top 40, and was certified platinum in the U.K. and her native Australia. "Torn" still sounds fresh today as evidenced by its ongoing radio airplay and ubiquity on multiple Spotify playlists, which have generated over 30 million streams.  "Shiver," from her third album, Counting Down The Days (2005), was also a worldwide hit and peaked at No.1 on the UK Airplay Chart for 5 non-consecutive weeks.

While "Torn" brought Imbruglia international fame along with three Grammy nominations, and the 1998 MTV Video Music Award for "Best New Artist," she is a woman of many talents. Her pop music success followed acting roles in Australian TV commercials and the long-running drama series Neighbours, in which she played the role of Beth Brennan. Over the last two years she has been studying acting in Los Angeles and also made her U.K. stage debut in Alan Ayckbourn's Things We Do For Love.  Imbruglia is the global ambassador for Virgin Unite, the non-profit foundation for The Virgin Group and is the spokesperson for the U.N campaign to end fistula.

Apr 15, 2015 | Outlaw Country Legends Willie Nelson & Merle Haggard Reunite for Django and Jimmie, A New Album Collaboration Premiering 14 Fresh Studio Tracks

Willie's Sixth Studio Album for Legacy Recordings, Produced by Buddy Cannon, Coming June 2

Apr 15, 2015

NEW YORK, April 15, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Legacy Recordings is proud to announce the June 2 release of Django and Jimmie, the new studio album collaboration from Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard, two of the founding fathers of American outlaw country music.

Legacy Recordings is proud to announce the June 2 release of Django and Jimmie, the new studio album collaboration from Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard, two of the founding fathers of American outlaw country music.

"Me and Merle got a new album coming out called Django and Jimmie and the title track is about Django Reinhardt and Jimmie Rodgers," said Willie Nelson.  "Both of those guys were very influential in both of our careers."

According to Merle Haggard, there's "new songs, a couple of classics and Willie sang like he was a teenager."

For Django and Jimmie, Willie Nelson's sixth studio album release for Legacy since inking an historic deal with the label in 2012, the legendary singer-songwriter joined forces with longtime friend and collaborator Merle Haggard to reignite the musical chemistry that made the pair's Pancho & Lefty a honky-tonk blockbuster and America's #1 Country Album following its release in January 1983.  Driven by a title track penned by Townes Van Zandt (and arguably the songwriter's most familiar song), the critically-acclaimed top-selling Pancho & Lefty solidified the reputations of both Willie and Merle as among the most formidable and influential artists in outlaw country music while topping the Billboard Country charts for seven non-consecutive weeks between April and October 1983.

The success of Pancho & Lefty opened the doors for a number of successful follow-up projects including 1987's Seashores Of Old Mexico album, 2007's double album Last Of The Breed with Ray Price, and the Merle Haggard-penned "A Horse Called Music" (the lead track on 2012's Heroes, Willie Nelson's first album for Legacy).

Helmed by Nelson's longtime producer, collaborator and friend Buddy Cannon, Django and Jimmie premieres 14 brand-new studio recordings including: "Django and Jimmie," a dual tribute to jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt and Jimmie Rodgers, country music's mythic "Singing Brakeman"; the reflective and meditative "Live This Long"; "Missing Ol' Johnny Cash," an homage to country music's original Man in Black featuring guest vocals from Bobby Bare; a sublime interpretation of Bob Dylan's "Don't Think Twice, It's Alright"; and the future outlaw country classic "Unfair Weather Friend," written by rising songsmiths Marla Cannon-Goodman (Buddy Cannon's daughter) and Ward Davis.

A legendary country music producer and songwriter in his own right, Buddy helped pen five of the album's tracks, including "It's All Going To Pot" (a rollicking anthem for the emerging 21st century cannabis culture) and four cowrites with Willie: "Alice In Hulaland," "It's Only Money," "Where Dreams Come To Die," and "Driving The Herd."

Among the 14 essential recordings on Django and Jimmie, Nelson and Haggard each pay musical tribute to the other through heartfelt solo performances: Willie singing Merle's "Somewhere Between" and Merle covering Willie's "Family Bible."

Willie sums up the duo's new collaboration simply saying, "It's good music, I got a good feeling about it."

Apr 15, 2015 | Roger Waters' Portrait Of A Distracted Society, Amused To Death, Celebrated With Remastered Release

2015 EDITIONS FEATURE NEW 5.1 SURROUND REMIX ON BLU-RAY AUDIO, NEW COVER AND GATEFOLD ARTWORK

AVAILABLE FRIDAY, JULY 24TH

Apr 15, 2015

NEW YORK, April 15, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Roger Waters' album AMUSED TO DEATH returns in a remastered release from Columbia Records / Legacy Recordings on July 24th. Amused to Death sounded the alarm about a society increasingly – and unthinkingly – in thrall to its television screens. Twenty-three years later, Amused to Death speaks to our present moment in ways that could scarcely have been anticipated two decades ago.

Roger Waters' album AMUSED TO DEATH returns in a remastered release from Columbia Records / Legacy Recordings on July 24th

"I'm remembering the record from [over] 20 years ago, that most of what I had to say then sadly still pertains today and is maybe even more relevant to our predicament as people in 2015 even than it was in 1992," says Roger Waters.

An unblinking look at an entertainment-obsessed society, Amused to Death addresses issues that have only grown in complexity and urgency over the past two decades. In 2015, television is just one option in an endless array of distractions available to us anytime, anywhere, courtesy of our laptops, tablets and smartphones. With eyes glued to our screens, the dilemmas and injustices of the real world can easily recede from view.

The 2015 editions of Amused to Death feature a new 5.1 surround remix of the album on high-definition Blu-ray audio and a new remastered stereo mix completed by longtime Roger Waters / Pink Floyd collaborator and co-producer, James Guthrie. The cover and gatefold art has been updated for 2015 by Sean Evans, the creative director of Waters' 2010-2013 "The Wall Live" tour and movie.

Produced by Roger Waters and Patrick Leonard, Amused to Death is a musically ambitious work featuring a stellar lineup of musicians. Guitar legend Jeff Beck figures prominently on the album, bringing his signature virtuosity to eight songs. Guest vocalists include Don Henley ("It's a Miracle"), Rita Coolidge ("Amused to Death") and soul singer P.P. Arnold ("Perfect Sense" Parts I and II). Also contributing were Waters' longtime collaborators, guitarist Andy Fairweather Low and drummer Graham Broad; percussionist Luis Conte; and Pat Leonard, who played keyboards on several tracks. The album reunited Waters with composer/arranger Michael Kamen, who supervised orchestral arrangements for The Wall, Waters' semi-autographical concept album with Pink Floyd. Kamen arranged and conducted the National Philharmonic Orchestra Limited's contributions to the songs "Too Much Rope" and "What God Wants, Part III."

"… damned if Roger Waters' 14-track rumination on some of our choicest social ills doesn't score some serious points, especially in 'Late Home Tonight,' which, with music that evokes both a kiss at a drive-in and the peace of the wide-open sky, shows us an American pilot soaring toward Libya to bomb children, giddy as an exuberant teen with the sheer joy of flight." Grade: A-, Entertainment Weekly, September 11, 1992

"It is the poet's responsibility to foresee the future, and it is his neighbor's duty to prevent the worst of it from taking place. With Amused To Death, surely one of the most provocative and musically dazzling records of the decade, Roger Waters has fulfilled his part of the bargain." - Timothy White, "Music to My Ears," Billboard Magazine, July 1992

The 2015 editions of Amused to Death will be available on:

  • CD
  • CD / Blu-ray
  • SACD
  • Hi-res digital download
  • 2LP 200 gram vinyl (pressed at Quality Record Pressings)
  • Limited edition, numbered 2LP picture disc vinyl.

Legacy Recordings has collaborated with Analogue Productions / Acoustic Sounds in the United States on the release of the 2LP 200 gram vinyl as well as SACD and DSD download audio products.

Amused to Death is available for pre-order at RogerWaters.com where fans will have access to an exclusive music and merchandise bundle including their choice of an Amused to Death t-shirt or sweatshirt.

Apr 14, 2015 | Sly & The Family Stone--Live At The Fillmore East October 4th & 5th 1968 To Be Released Friday, July 17

Four-Disc Debut Release of Previously Unreleased Live Set Recorded at Legendary Fillmore East Venue

Double Vinyl LP "Best-Of" from shows, compiled by "Captain" Kirk Douglas of The Roots, to be released exclusively for Record Store Day 2015

Apr 14, 2015

NEW YORK, April 14, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Epic/Legacy is excited to announce the debut release of SLY & THE FAMILY STONE—LIVE AT THE FILLMORE EAST OCTOBER 4th & 5th 1968, a four-disc set of previously unreleased live shows recorded during the band's rise at New York City's legendary venue. The set is scheduled to be released on Friday, July 17 and is available now for pre-order (http://smarturl.it/sfs_lafe_amzn).

SLY & THE FAMILY STONE-LIVE AT THE FILLMORE EAST OCTOBER 4th & 5th 1968, a four-disc set of previously unreleased live shows recorded during the band's rise at New York City's legendary venue, is scheduled to be released on Friday, July 17.

Sly & The Family Stone's reputation as one of the most influential bands of the 1960s has rarely been in denial. The group effortlessly combined upbeat, funky melodies with socially conscious lyrics, which would paint a vivid picture of the sociopolitical landscape of the '60s while also creating a road map for pop music in the decades to come. This four-disc anthology presents a lesser-known side of the band: not the dominant soul-funk-pop juggernaut of the late 1960s, but an up-and-coming ensemble whose onstage energy could not be contained.

On October 4th and 5th, 1968, shortly after the release of the band's third album Life, Sly & The Family Stone took the stage at Bill Graham's legendary Fillmore East in New York City. Along with the success of Dance To The Music, which was released earlier that year and spun off the Top 10 hit of the same name, Sly & The Family Stone were making a name for themselves on the concert circuit, with their dynamic, high energy live performances.

Epic Records, the group's record company, recorded all four of these concerts (two shows per night) with plans to release a live album that would consist of selections from these performances. But the release was shelved after the release of the single "Everyday People," which topped the Billboard Hot 100 in 1969 and anticipated the band's breakthrough year, with the acclaimed album Stand! and an increasing spotlight in the public eye culminating in an appearance at Woodstock that summer.

Sly & The Family Stone—Live At The Fillmore East October 4th & 5th 1968 features all four of these energetic shows, which mark not only the first release of these sets but the first official release primarily highlighting live material from the group. The collection will be preceded by a double-vinyl 'best-of' featuring highlights from all four shows compiled by "Captain" Kirk Douglas, guitarist for The Roots. This special package will be exclusively available at participating independent record retailers on Record Store Day (April 18, 2015).

"Captain" Kirk Douglas, guitarist for The Roots states, "This performance is living breathing evidence of how much of a force of nature Sly & the Family Stone were at this point of their career. Every member of the group shines in a way that I can only describe as a revelation. It was enjoyable listening to the band break free from the studio arrangements of the songs we know and love to find new interpretations. And to think they did this twice in one evening! The heaviest of rock and the funkiest of soul jumps out of the speakers combined with a message just as relevant today as the day it was recorded. This deserves to be played LOUD!"

The complete SLY & THE FAMILY STONE—LIVE AT THE FILLMORE EAST OCTOBER 4th & 5th 1968 track listing is below:

Apr 13, 2015 | Masterworks Broadway Rekindles Its Pledge To Empty The Vault With Classic Albums Released On CD For The First Time

Dames at Sea - Original London Cast Recording - Available April 14

Two's Company - Starring Bette Davis - Available May 4

Ages of Man - Starring Sir John Gielgud - Available June 16

Apr 13, 2015

NEW YORK, April 13, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Masterworks Broadway continues to make good on its promise to make available its extensive catalog of cast recordings with the release of three classic albums from the archives previously unavailable on CD Dames at Sea – The Original London Cast Recording (April 14), Two's Company (May 4), and Ages of Man (June 16).Upon release, each title will be accompanied by new album pages and photos on MasterworksBroadway.com.

A surprise hit Off-Broadway in 1968, Dames at Sea had its London debut little more than a year later. The Original London Cast Recording features an all-English cast in a lively but distinctive interpretation of the show, under original director/choreographer Neil Kenyon, with orchestral arrangements that differ from those created expressly for the Off-Broadway cast recording – perhaps closer to what was actually heard in the theater. In the role that made Bernadette Peters famous, nineteen-year-old Sheila White brings a fresh, pixie-ish quality to the optimistic showgirl Ruby. (White played Brigitta in The Sound of Music in London and, in 1969, had just appeared as Nancy Sykes's best friend in the Oscar-winning film Oliver!). Dames at Sea has had an enduring popularity in England, and this production was the beginning of that. The Original London Cast Recording of Dames at Sea, available for the first time on CD, will be released exclusively for purchase via MasterworksBroadway.com on April 14 in a limited quantity of Manufacture-On-Demand CDs as well as digital download. The CD will be available through Arkiv Music on May 4, plus streaming and downloads via digital service providers the same day.

Bette Davis was making a triumphant return to Broadway in the 1952 revue Two's Company … until the show began its previews, when she promptly collapsed onstage on opening night. Davis was perhaps in over her head (song, dance and comedy were not her strong points) in this otherwise charming revue, with a score largely by Vernon Duke (music) and Sammy Cahn and Ogden Nash (lyrics). Two's Company was one of the last of the sophisticated, satirical revues, a kind of show that television killed off, and its reputation has been held hostage to Davis's troubled involvement. But Sheldon Harnick, Horton Foote and Peter DeVries were among those contributing material to the show, and the choreographer was no less than Jerome Robbins. Hiram Sherman won a Tony for his expert comedy work in this fascinating relic of Broadway's past. Two's Company will be released exclusively for purchase via MasterworksBroadway.com on May 4 in a limited quantity of Manufacture-On-Demand CDs as well as digital download. The CD will be available through Arkiv Music on June 9, plus streaming and downloads via digital service providers the same day.

A legendary actor with what might have been the most expressive, musical voice in the modern English theater – "a silver trumpet muffled in silk," in the words of Sir Alec Guinness – Sir John Gielgud had enduring success with his one-man Shakespearean evening Ages of Man. This tour de force, in which he toured for twenty years, would win him Tony, Emmy and Grammy awards. Gielgud selected excerpts from Shakespeare's texts that dramatized the complete arc of human experience, from life to death – an unforgettable poetic journey. This recording was made after the show's triumphant, Tony-winning Broadway debut in 1959, when Gielgud was in his artistic prime. Ages of Man, available for the first time on CD, will be released exclusively for purchase via MasterworksBroadway.com on June 16 in a limited quantity of Manufacture-On-Demand CDs as well as digital download. The CD will be available through Arkiv Music on July 13, plus streaming and downloads via digital service providers the same day.

Additionally, two Off-Broadway cast recordings receive their first official digital release on July 13:  Howard Crabtree's Whoop-Dee-Doo!, the 1993 all-male sendup of the Ziegfeld Follies and Promenade, the 1969 show with music by Al Carmines and lyrics by Maria Irene Fornes. Both titles will be available for streaming and downloads through all major digital service providers, and will be accompanied by new album pages and photos on MasterworksBroadway.com.

Apr 08, 2015 | Emily West Debuts Her New Single "Bitter" -- Available Now

From Upcoming New Album All For You

ON TOUR NOW!

"'Bitter'...swells and soars thanks to West's impassioned vocals. Heartbreak has never sounded quite this uplifting." - RollingStone.com

Apr 8, 2015

NEW YORK, April 8, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Singer-songwriter and vocal powerhouse, Emily West releases "Bitter," the first single from her debut album All For You, available now (Portrait/Sony Music Masterworks). The album release will follow in August.

Currently headlining a multi-city tour, West brings a series of weekly performances of her one-woman show to New York City, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, and Chicago through June.  She is also the opening act for comedian Jay Leno, and will commence her fall tour in September.

West wrote the very personal single, "Bitter." Of the track, West says, 'This is a great song to roll down the windows to and sing your heart out - it's a song about empowerment."

The Waterloo, Iowa native, moved to Nashville at the age of 18, where she honed her songwriting and performance skills in the local clubs. Soon after arriving, West landed a publishing and record label deal and released three country singles. She was also nominated with duet partner Keith Urban for the Academy of Country Music Awards in the category of "Vocal Event of the Year" for their song "Blue Sky."

Driven by her love and fear of New York City, West got on a plane, got lost on the subway, and found herself auditioning for America's Got Talent.  This gave her the opportunity to demonstrate her vulnerability and versatility to a wide audience.  As a finalist on Season 9, West won crowds over, including AGT judge Howard Stern, with re-imagined versions of songs like the Moody Blues' "Nights in White Satin," Sia's hit "Chandelier" and Cyndi Lauper's classic "True Colors," all of which appear on her upcoming album, along with three original songs.  Lauper, one of West's greatest supporters and mentors, performed "True Colors" on AGT with West, a track which resonated with fans from multiple generations.

In addition to her tour dates, West will perform the National Anthem across the country at major sporting events for the NHL, MLB and NBA.

Feb 11, 2015 | Bob Dylan's Shadows In The Night Album Becomes Worldwide Hit

HIGH-RANKING GLOBAL CHART POSITIONS MATCH ALBUM'S CRICITCAL ACCLAIM

Feb 11, 2015

NEW YORK, Feb. 11, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Bob Dylan's new album, Shadows In The Night, has debuted in the Top Ten in 13 countries spanning the globe, including #1 chart entries in the United Kingdom, Sweden and Ireland, #2 in the Netherlands and Switzerland, #3 in Austria, Japan and Spain, #6 in Germany and Belgium, #8 in Finland and #10 in Canada.  The album has also debuted at #7 in the United States, making it the artist's 17th studio album to debut in the Top 10 in this country.

Bob Dylan's Shadows In The Night Album Becomes Worldwide Hit

Showcasing the artist's singular interpretive artistry on ten classic American songs, Shadows In The Night is the 36th studio album from Dylan and the first since the release of his worldwide hit Tempest in 2012.  Produced by Jack Frost, Dylan's unique approach to recording the songs included refining complicated arrangements for 30-piece orchestras down to those uniquely tailored for his five-piece band.

The high worldwide chart entries of Shadows In The Night comes on the heels of Dylan's honor as Musicares Person Of The Year at a sold-out ceremony in Los Angeles on February 6.  The event raised more than $7 million for Musicares, the most in the 25-year history of the event.  Following performances of Bob Dylan songs by a who's who of contemporary musicians – including Bruce Springsteen, John Mellencamp, Norah Jones, Jack White, Willie Nelson, Beck, Bonnie Raitt and many others – Dylan held the audience rapt with a wide-ranging, nearly 40-minute speech that has now been excerpted in countless media outlets around the world.  The complete transcript of Dylan's speech, taken directly from the artist's handwritten notes, has been reproduced in its entirety in the New York Times and can be found here:  http://graphics8.nytimes.com/packages/pdf/arts/Bob-Dylan-Speech-Transcription-20150207.pdf

Critical response to Shadows In The Night has been rapturous, with rave reviews coming in from around the globe:

  • David Fricke wrote in Rolling Stone, "The great shock here is Dylan's singing. Dylan's focus and his diction evoke his late-Sixties poise and clarity with an eccentric rhythmic patience in the way he holds words and notes across the faint suggestions of tempo. It is not crooning. It is suspense."
  • The Los Angeles Times's Randall Roberts summed up his thoughts in his review, writing, "Ten songs, 34 minutes, a soaring lifetime's worth of emotion conveyed with the fearlessness of a cliff diver spinning flips and risking belly flops in the open air — that's Dylan and his band on the graceful, often breathtaking Shadows.…Profound, thematically devastating and so well curated as to feel essential."
  • USA Today's Elysa Gardner opined, "To have a songwriter of Dylan's stature champion interpretive singing is cause for celebration. The genuine care and knowing he brings to a different American pop tradition, to the music and lyrics – it's something wonderful."
  • In his 5-star review of the album, The Guardian's Alex Petridis wrote, "It may be the most straightforwardly enjoyable album Dylan's made since Time Out of Mind. He's an unlikely candidate to join the serried ranks of rock stars tackling standards: appropriately enough, given that Frank Sinatra sang all these songs before him, he does it his way, and to dazzling effect."
  • In another 5-star review, Mojo's Michael Simmons wrote, "While countless other contemporaries have recorded Great American Songbook collections, Shadows In The Night -- Dylan's flat-out brilliant contribution to the concept – is not, by any definition, a recreation of the past. His singing on Shadows is his best vocalizing in years – in-studio or out. He glides with the melodies and relaxes into them, enjoying the ride that these gems provide….Much will be made of the autumnal theme: from the age of the material to songs that address mortality. But this extraordinary record is more refreshing burst than last gasp and its timelessness speaks more to life than death."

Concurrent with the release of Shadows In The Night is a 9,000-word interview with Dylan in AARP The Magazine.  Conducted by the publication's Editor-In Chief Robert Love, the interview is one of the most extensive of Dylan's career and covers a broad array of topics, including Frank Sinatra's enduring influence, Irving Berlin, recording of the new album, whether young people find songs from the '40s and '50s to be 'corny,' corporate influence in the U.S., his period of self-seclusion in the mid-1960s and growing up without television, to name only several.  The interview can be found in its entirety on AARP's website (http://aarp.org/dylan).

Bob Dylan's five previous studio albums have been universally hailed as among the best of his storied career, achieving new levels of commercial success and critical acclaim for the artist. The Platinum-selling Time Out Of Mind from 1997 earned multiple Grammy Awards, including Album Of The Year, while "Love and Theft" continued Dylan's Platinum streak and earned several Grammy nominations and a statue for Best Contemporary Folk album.

Modern Times, released in 2006, became one of the artist's most popular albums, selling more than 2.5 million copies worldwide and earning Dylan two more Grammys. Together Through Life became the artist's first album to debut at #1 in both the U.S. and the UK, as well as in five other countries, on its way to surpassing sales of one million copies.  Tempest received unanimous worldwide critical acclaim upon release and reached the Top 5 in 14 countries, while the artist's globe-spanning concert tours of the past few years have heavily emphasized that album's singular repertoire.

These five releases fell within a 15-year creative span that also included the recording of an Oscar- and Golden Globe-winning composition, "Things Have Changed," from the film Wonder Boys, in 2001; a worldwide best-selling memoir, Chronicles Vol. 1, which spent 19 weeks on the New York Times Best Seller List, in 2004, and a Martin Scorsese-directed documentary, No Direction Home, in 2005. Bob Dylan also released his first collection of holiday standards, Christmas In The Heart, in 2009, with all of the artist's royalties from that album being donated to hunger charities around the world.

In recent years, Bob Dylan was the recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the United States' highest civilian honor. He was awarded a special Pulitzer Prize in 2008 for "his profound impact on popular music and American culture, marked by lyrical compositions of extraordinary poetic power." He was also the recipient of the Officier de la Legion d'honneur in 2013, Sweden's Polar Music Award in 2000, Doctorates from the University of St. Andrews and Princeton University, as well as numerous other honors.

Bob Dylan has sold more than 125 million records around the world.

"Shadows In The Night is quite gorgeous, the sound of an old man picking over memories, lost loves, regrets, triumphs and fading hopes amid an ambient tumble of haunting electric instrumentation. It is spooky, bittersweet, mesmerisingly moving and showcases the best singing from Dylan in 25 years….[An] extraordinary record. The Telegraph Neil McCormick

"The sound of Shadows In The Night is clear as water.  Not only can you hear every word, every note, that Dylan sings, but you can hear him draw breath before beginning to sing, and sighing out the end of a line.  The instrumentals – even the infrequent horns, and soft, subtle drums – don't ever drown him out.  You're as close as the microphone, making this record feel as intensely personal as, perhaps, it is to its maker.  Dylan sings these songs intimately, sometimes conversationally, with emotion and humor….Shadows In The Night is an early valentine to us all.  It's music to dance to in someone's arms, slowly, with half-forgotten steps in the formal patterns of long ago.  It's a record to remember to, to dream to, and -- most of all -- to feel to." To date the song has sold over 6 million copies worldwide, and has been streamed on YouTube over 150 million times.

Stirring and striking performances followed on The Voice, American Music Awards, The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, Fox's So You Think You Can Dance, Good Morning America, The Today Show, Live! with Michael & Kelly, The Rachel Ray Show, The Logo Awards, Last Week with John Oliver, and more. Tastemakers lauded them as they became an MTV Artist To Watch and VH1 You Oughtta Know Artist. In January 2014 the band hit the road to sold out shows across the globe. Most recently, they also contributed a captivating take on "I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas" to the Epic Records Holiday compilation I'll Be Home For Christmas.

Dec 08, 2014 | The Last Internationale Guitarist Edgey Pires To Be Honored At 2014 PORTUGUESE-BRAZILIAN AWARDS

CEREMONY SET FOR DECEMBER 10 AT UNITED NATIONS HEAD OFFICE IN NEW YORK

Dec 8, 2014

NEW YORK, Dec. 8, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- In recognition of his artistic contributions and political activism, Guitarist Edgey Pires of The Last Internationale will be honored at the 2014 PORTUGUESE-BRAZILIAN AWARDS. The artist receives this esteemed honor amongst a total of 20 Portuguese and Brazilian actors, cultural influencers, journalists, and other trailblazers. The gala ceremony takes place at the United Nations head office in New York City on December 10, 2014.

Edgey graduated from college with a degree in Political Science and went on to write two books, Fighting for Freedom: Because A Better World is Possible (Planting Seeds Press) and Negative Dialectics: How to Accurately Interpret the World (unpublished). This marks a significant milestone for both Edgey and the critically acclaimed New York band.

"The UN is where Che Guevara delivered an incendiary speech against US imperialism. It is where Hugo Chaves, decades later, gave a similar speech in which he condemned 'the devil', George W. Bush, who had spoken from the same podium the day before. It is where KRS ONE went to get Hip Hop officially recognized as an international culture. It is where the Security Council vote on which poor, innocent people in remote parts of the world will get bombs dropped on their heads. It is outside of this building that I have held many banners and shouted for human rights and seen many of my fellow Comrades get tear-gassed, pepper-sprayed, beat and dragged off by police," said Edgey. "So when I found out that I was being given the Luso-Brazilian Award at the UN for my artistic achievements and social activism, I was as much shocked as I was honored to be included on the right side of this contentious history. Since the event falls on Human Rights Day, I will also be standing outside (once again) demanding that we get some human rights right here at home. I urge everyone from around the world to head out into the streets and fight for a different world."

During the evening, the PORTUGUESE-BRAZILIAN AWARDS bestows a statue and a diploma upon all honorees. The event aims to bolster and encourage Portuguese and Brazilian communities in the U.S. through recognizing the culture's luminaries and their respective contributions.

This news concludes a monumental year for The Last Internationale. They recently unveiled their star-studded music video for "A Wanted Man" and performed a powerful "Call For Action" show regarding Prop 47 in South Los Angeles. They are now gearing up to launch a campaign around the rising Student Debt Crisis. The band is passionate about this issue and is planning a more formal announcement early next year.

The Last Internationale first emerged in 2013 with their independent EP, New York, 'I Do Mind Dying. Legendary Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello made an introduction between Delila Paz and Edgy Pires and his longtime bandmate Brad Wilk. The drummer ended up joining the group, and they unleashed We Will Reign this past summer. They've performed on The Late Show with David Letterman and recently supported Robert Plant on tour.

Epic Records Partners With HP for Breakout Pop Star Meghan Trainor's New

Trainor and HP are "bending the rules" by releasing the first-ever music video created by social "influencers" — the most influential Viners, Instagrammers, and YouTube stars from around the world whose combined audience reaches nearly 30 million. HP worked with these influencers to become  the video's actors, choreographers, dancers, set designer, hair and makeup artists, stylists, and behind-the-scenes photographer. They include American set designer Bri Emery, American actors Marcus Johns, Cody Johns, and Robby Ayala, French dancers Les Twins, Spanish stylist Sara Escudero, American hair stylist Kristin Ess, Japanese nail artist Mei Kawajiri, and the world's most famous pomeranian Barkley the Pom, to name a few. Each leveraged the versatility of the HP Pavilion x360 to collaborate on the creative production process.

Trainor is no stranger to working with social media stars, having featured dancer and Viner Sione Maraschino in her video for her multi-week No. 1 single "All About That Bass," which has racked up nearly 250 million views on VEVO.

"Lips Are Movin" follows on the heels of Trainor's multi-platinum debut "All About That Bass," which captured the No. 1 spot on Billboard's Hot 100 chart for a record-breaking eight consecutive weeks. The positive body-image anthem also spent three weeks at No. 1 at Top 40 radio, eight weeks at No. 1 on the U.S. Shazam chart, and reached No. 1 globally on Spotify. "All About That Bass" climbed to No. 1 in Australia, Canada, the UK, and Germany and peaked at No. 1 on the iTunes singles chart in 58 countries, making Trainor a global pop-phenomenon. It has been certified 4x-platinum in the U.S. with more than 5.5 million sold worldwide.

Meanwhile, Trainor's hotly anticipated full-length debut Title [Epic Records] (pre-order) hits shelves on January 13th just prior to the launch of her just-announced "THAT BASS" North American headlining tour. See all of Trainor's upcoming tour dates below.

A 2014 American Music Award nominee for "New Artist of the Year," Trainor will present an award on the show, which airs live on ABC on November 23rd. Fans can vote at AMAvote.com through the first hour of the broadcast.  Trainor was also nominated for an MTV EMA award and is up for two People's Choice awards and LOGO a New Next Now award.  She recently performed "All About That Bass" with Miranda Lambert at the CMAs and will also perform on Nickelodeon's HALO Awards on Nov. 30.

Fifth Harmony's "BO$$" reached Gold status, and the fivesome garnered the "Artist To Watch" award at the  MTV VMA's and "Best U.S. Act" at the MTV EMA's. These achievements also paved the way for their debut full-length Reflection, out January 27. Sara Bareilles's The Blessed Unrest received two 2014 Grammy Award nominations including "Album of the Year", while "Brave" is now double-platinum. This all sets the stage for an even bigger 2015.

Trainor actually wrote and produced the new heartwarming original, "I'll Be Home", herself. Meanwhile, Fifth Harmony make the Mariah Carey classic, "All I Want For Christmas Is You", totally mistletoe-ready. Both tracks begin impacting radio on November 25.

Meanwhile, Fiona Apple breathes new life into "Frosty The Snowman," and Tamar Braxton adds a little soul and R&B flavor to an energetic "Sleigh Ride."  Sara Bareilles Ingrid Michaelson team up for the blissful and beautiful gem, "Winter Song." Fifth Harmony also provide their own take on the Latin staple "Noche de Paz," while A Great Big World send Santa Claus an important message with "I Want A Hippopotamus For Christmas.I'll Be Home For Christmas will undoubtedly warm up any holiday party or night relaxing by the fire.
